For those of you who liked Emma I will strongly recommand "The Grand Sophy" by Georgette Heyer, you wouldn't regret.
First time I read it in Russian and Loved it. behemot is one of my most favorite characters! I reread it in English and i liked the translation, which was the first one. the book I read was published in 1965, so it must be Glenny, (though I am not sure).
russian literature is great, especially when you read it in Russian. i am from another former Soviet republic(Armenia), and I will recommand to read other Soviet authers, too. there are so many great books of that period.
the Master and Margarita by Bulgakov is one of the best books I have read.
