I just got The Tale of Genji and I am so excited. I've been wanting to read it for a long time. I just hope I don't get confused like a lot of people seem to get...
His writing was so striking. And inspiring.
I took a history course once and we got the option of writing a creative story based on a style of a particular author. I had just been astounded by A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich and I wrote in that style. I didn't capture him perfectly (how can I, being a white American and him a former Soviet gulag prisoner?) but it earned me an A in the class!
In fact, I might pick up something I haven't read recently by him. Any ideas, favorites?
I vote for :
September - Book of Illusions ~ Paul Auster
October - A Clockwork Orange ~ Anthony Burgess
November - The Satanic Verses ~ Salman Rushdie
