970 Either of the Douglas Adams books. Is Good Omens on the list? Of there is always some good old fashioned adventure, go with some Jules Verne

970 I know some people with a Kindle 1, and they swear by it... I would consider buying a K2 but have nowhere near enough "expendable" cash to justify one. I will be envious if you do get one :)

970 Is Lamb the Gospel According to Biff on the list? If so, then there's your winner.

970 I forgot about all of the Wells and Wilde works... I recommend them both, they are generally short, sweet, and quite easy to follow for when your brain is in a more relaxed mood

970 Good Omens, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Yellow Wallpaper. I'll think of more for you later.
970 I've read a few off your list and I would have to second Good Omens and In Cold Blood

970 I had a really rough time with it... soooooo many descriptions of the leaves and the pine needles and the wind... I just wanted to scream "WILL SOMEONE PLEASE DO SOMETHING NOW?"

970 Finally made it through Clockwork Orange! I have no idea why it took me so long... maybe the language or something.

970 If that was their position, a black man as president should not suddenly change their views on history. It's as if they are saying that the African American community held no value until they produced a president.

The books have tremendous educational value, and can not only enlighten the readers on the mindset of different times, but also can open up lines of communication as to why we now know better.

970 Stephanie, God Bless You, Mr Rosewater is fantastic... though not my favorite. I have a whole stack of Vonnegut I have yet to read... I try to space them out so I don't burn through them too quickly

970 I LOVE Vonnegut... all Vonnegut... I have Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, and may have to bump it up on the reading list if it's similar to Kurt.

970 Halfway through:
War and Peace
House of Seven Gables
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

All three have been entertaining, though War and Peace seems to go on forEVER

970 I think that a lot of people are misunderstanding the title of this group and may not realize that it's a hard list we're working from rather than people just listing off what they feel are the 1001 books to read before you die.
