This isn't saying anything about the quality of the author, but I love the Hans Solo trilogies by A.C. Crispin. Great Star Wars stories about a hot hero with a sci fi setting, (lasers, need I say more?) and tons of action with a promise of romance.
Paradise Snare, Hutts gambit and Rebel Dawn.

Yeah, for me the protective alpha male has to be coupled with a female heroine who won't let him save her every time. She has to resist his arrogant ways enough to impress him.

I like the trapped together better make the best of it scenario. I've written it in a few of my erotic novellas and I just can't seem to get enough.
