9066 I don't presently have a mailing list. I'm on several that I signed up for, and I enjoy receiving those. On the other hand, one author regularly includes me in unsolicited mass mailings, which I regard as spam and delete immediately. I wouldn't mind them so much if the author had a new book out, but as they all relate to a book that's been out for some time and that I'm well aware of, I find them irritating.

Are you planning on writing anything in the Henry VIII historical framework?

Thanks, Dee! I'm not sure yet. I'm creeping up pretty close with my WIP, which ends early in Henry VII's reign. I'd like to tackle some of the lesser-known historical figures during Henry VIII's time--not sure who yet!

One nice thing about Twitter is that when you rate a book here, it can show up on Twitter, so it gives you some tweets! (Or is it Twits?)

9066 I use Facebook, though all of the little applications drive me crazy.

I also have a Squidoo lens, which is fun:

9066 I like websites that give me information about an author's books--all of the author's books. The other day I saw a book on Amazon that is scheduled to be released in the fall. The only information available on Amazon was the book's title, so I went to the author's website to find out more--and the book wasn't even mentioned there. How frustrating! At least a two-line description would have been helpful.

I also like seeing excerpts, especially if a book isn't readily available in brick-and-mortar bookstores.

What I really hate are sites that aren't updated. It's irritating to see a list of signings, only to realize that they all took place in 2005. At the very least, the author should take down the out-of-date material.

If it's historical fiction, which is what I mostly read, I'd also like to know a little about the book's historical background, and perhaps some suggestions for further reading.

9066 Great group! I am Susan Higginbotham. My historical novels, The Traitor's Wife: A Novel of the Reign of Edward II and Hugh and Bess, are being reissued this year by Sourcebooks, Inc. They are set in fourteenth-century England. My latest novel, which is nearing completion (happy thought!) is set during the Wars of the Roses.

My website is:

My first book had a book trailer, but I need to update it to reflect the new edition.

My favorite genre is historical fiction.

I do visit authors' websites--partly for ideas for my own, partly as a reader interested in finding out more about a particular author.

I watch book trailers when someone I know has done one, but otherwise I don't pay much attention to them.
