Mary, do you mean Rosalie? LOL!
I absolutely loved it! I thought Taylor did an amazing job as Jacob. He has him down and without question got the essence of who Jacob is. The director also understood their relationship and let the audience see it. I am team Edward for sure, but Taylor's performance (*cough* abs *cough*) onscreen made me question my loyalty. lol! For just a few seconds...here and there. Here are some more of my thoughts about the movie...
-Kristen Stewart is my Bella. I cannot picture a better actress to play her. She plays Bella better than Bella...if that even makes sense. The book Bella is whiny and at times irritating. On screen this time around, Kristen was smoother with her lines, less stuttering.
-Robert Pattinson also did a better job this time around. Gone the weird stares and glares! lol! Though I think Robert has a face I can stare at for hours, he has not completely captured my old fashioned, overly confidence, gallant, charming, playful Edward. He portrays Edward too seriously, too pained, too dark. In the first movie he seemed a little lost with the character. I am so glad to see a glimpse of playfulness in New Moon, even though it was just a glimpse.
-Taylor Lautner, sorry I doubted you, sorry for casting you off the movie, sorry for commenting about your large teeth! So glad you stayed and gave me the Jacob I didn't know I deserved! lol! I definitely can see why he stayed. If they had replaced him with an older mature actor, I think Jacob would have appeared old and immature. The audience would forget this immaturity is due to his age, not the person or character. Taylor played Jacob with such ease that I totally bought it. He was genuine with the character. He really made you feel the longing for something you can’t have and at the same time protect. I was blown away with his performance.
-Chris Weitz needs to remake Twilight! lol! He did such an amazing job. He was true to the book that it made me weep with gratitude. The actors’ performances were so much better and I truly believe it was because they had a better director. He understood the series and the fans. The way he and the screenwriter brought out the depressed and heart broken Bella was perfect. I was worried how the heartache will come off scene...the months, the nightmares, the moping around, the pure depression of a broken heart! It was perfect down to her writing to Alice. Edward was so harsh in the break-up scene that I believed him more than I did in the book. Bella's heartache made sense and it came across clear, in a non-cheesy teenager heartbreak.
-The makeup was great! The hair was great except for Jasper. I hope they change Jasper’s hair in Eclipse.
-Special effects were surprisingly good. They improved on many things. The movements of the vampires were more natural. The wolves were as natural as they can CG it. The cinematography was beautiful. Love the lens they used throughout the movie. The crow scene with Victoria and the wolves was just beautiful.
-Billy Burke as Charlie again delivered a great performance. He made me care more for Charlie than in the book. I love the humor he brought to Charlie. I just love him!
-The humans (teenagers) were again great! The little bit they had in New Moon made up a good portion of the comic relief.
-The wolves had mix reviews, but I loved them! They were distinctly different from the vampires. They were juvenile, playful, less refined. The only thing I did not like are the shorts. I hope they give them better shorts in Eclipse.
-Volturis were creepy, just as I imagined. Michael Sheen played Aro as I read Aro. Dakota Fanning gave Jane a calmness I did not expect, but I liked it. The elevator scene had humor that only a few people got.
I loved this adaptation much more than Twilight. It was smoother. I did not find myself cringing in any scenes or felt embarrassed...okay a few scenes I was embarrassed by my inner cougarness, but I took comfort knowing I was not alone! lol! This movie turned out better than the first because of the director. His vision and understanding of the book impressed me. Chris Weitz made this movie a companion to the book not a separate medium.
That is all I can think or remember so far...
Oh and the soundtrack—yet again—amazing!

YAY!!! We will see you there!
I talked to Cherise and she thought it would be a great idea (just like we did last year) to go for coffee after the movie. What do you guys think?
Meet up for New Moon. Seminole is not showing it, but Lake Mary is. It is a better theater anyway. Here is the link.https://thegrand.tstickets.com/thegrand....
The later show is at 10:15pm. I know it's late, but it's NEW MOON! lol! We could meet up and have coffee or something before the movie.
For the month of December I was thinking we could pick a book with a holiday theme. I was so excited about this until I started looking for possible candidates. It was harder than I thought. lol!
Here is what I've scavenged.
Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris
Over the Holidays by Sandra Harper
Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding
and of course the classics...
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
I am not sure if this is holiday themed, but I think I will pick this one up.
Family Affair A Novel by Caprice Crane
Please let me know if you guys think of anything else. I am sure there are other books out there with a holiday theme or takes place during the holidays.
I will post a poll by Monday.
Sorry to hear some of you hated this book. The writing is as awful as Twilight, I have to agree. It's a YA series. It is hit or miss sometimes with YAs. The Hunger Games is an exception, of course. I didn't have high expectations or really any at all for this series...maybe that is why I didn't mind it that much. For those moving on with the next book, I hope you enjoy the read. The next one is my favorite out of the three. A lot more of the Shadowhunters' world is revealed and my favorite character takes on a bigger part.
I have a sleuth of songs for the Twilight series.A Fine Frenzy reminds me of the whole Twilight series.
You Picked Me by her is my theme song for Bella and Edward.
Death Cab for Cutie No Sunlight, I Will Follow You Into the Dark, I Will Possess Your Heart all remind me of Twilight and New Moon.
For You to Notice by Dashboard Confessional is a song I have for Jacob. I think it is perfect.
Careful by Guster, Somewhere Only We Know and The Lovers Are Losing by Keane, Pieces of the People We Love by the Rapture (maybe because I was listening to them when I was reading the series), Notice by Gomez, (ofcourse) The Scientist and Fix You by Coldplay, and Rescued by Jack's Mannequin. LOL! I have more, but those are ones I remember.
The Host..
Soul Meets Body by DCFC and Eisley Invasion definitely remind me of The Host.
Broken by Lifehouse for The Time Traveler's Wife.
Jest! Jest I did! What Drives Edward campaign. Crazy right? They are banking on this. What I don't get is why they didn't use the right car in the movie--both movies! He drives a shiny silver Volvo! and not a hatchback either. Whatever. When I first saw it I thought it was a joke or a spoof. Here is the link...

Many in the group are from other states or even countries. We mainly discuss books here. Locals meet up. We try to meet up every other month. Usually just for fun, hang-out, talk about books, or movies. This month we are set for New Moon. I can't want it! I miss hanging out with you guys!
Michele wrote: "we did watch it dubbed. i think that helped even though the voices weren't great. i was a little confused by that scene where he spies on eli, but am chalking it up to how weird swedish films can..."
I thought that too! I thought she kept saying she is not a girl because she is a vampire. I also thought it was just pubic hair because she is after all 12 years old. WOW! There are so much more to the story. Now I want to read the book!
I looked it up and in the book Eli is a boy!"The novel presents Eli as an androgynous boy, who had been castrated centuries before by a sadistic vampire nobleman. The film handles the issue of Eli's gender more ambiguously: a brief scene in which Eli changes into a dress offers a glimpse of a suggestive scar but no explicit elaboration. Eli's character is played by a female actress, but also tries to tells Oskar "I'm not a girl" when he asks that Eli be his girlfriend. According to an interview with the director, as the film was originally conceived, flashbacks explained this aspect in more detail, but these scenes were eventually cut"

They are making an english version of it! It is scheduled to be released in 2010. I Wikipedia-ed it ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_the_Rig...I am still reading it...
Did you watch it dubbed? I would have rather watched it with the subtitles. It almost ruined it for me.
