8632 I really enjoy the Wicked series and the other books by Gregory McGuire.

8632 Iris explains why Roze was first magician because she could control fire on a much grander scale than she can so Iris was second to her.

8632 right, but if they ended up ranking lower for example then wouldn't the 2nd Magician become Frist?
Yelena's crime (25 new)

8632 Honestly I don't know if I could either. As we know she has volumes of strength that I wish that I had!

8632 Maybe the title First, Second, Third, and Fourth are just titles. Irys told Yelena that First Magician can use fire at a higher skill than Irys. The fountain may stay the same and as the Master magician takes the test, the right animal will be their guide?

8632 I think the scent would have to have lavender in it, since "Lavender Lady" is how the horses refer to her. You could add something else to it, not sure what would be good although I love the Downy Vanilla Lavender scent.

8632 Well I think that it was more relief that she wasn't going to die in the cell(it has been a while so if I am incorrect I am sorry) is the reason that she wasn't that angry. She was going through withdrawls but remember she was having issues about being in the place that had tortured her. So to know that she wasn't going to die there probably made things mentally a little easier for her.
Butterflies (20 new)

8632 I like and agree with everyone has said so far. I think the bat as the spirit guide fits with the butterfly as well. Yelena had used bats too help people, doesn't it fit well with her speciality as a Soulfinder?
Yelena's crime (25 new)

8632 I agree that Yelena probably didn't have any choice...but the reason she acted I think is a little different. As you know any animal when backed into a corner and is feeling threatened will attack. I think that is what happened. I think she hid the knife as protection not with the intent to kill, but to make it stop. The final act of being killed by Reyad and him moving to one of her friends was enough for her to act. As we know she had a very protective spirit about her especially when it came to others. The fact that she owned up to it and thought there wasn't another way to get out of it speaks loud of her character.

8632 Thanks Alethea for the invite. I haven't read the Magic or Fire study yet, as my to be read list just keeps getting longer and longer. I really need to stop buying books and read more. I am hoping to get to these books soon. I did enjoy Poison study and hope the other books are just as good.
