8565 At the very least, the Stupidest Angel. And, though, I just started Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, I may put off reading more until December, since the rest of the month will be pretty hectic.
8565 How many more people have to read Balzac? I don't want to post anything on here until everyone's done -- I read it last September.
8565 Linda, I have Geisha, A Life on my shelf at home. Maybe I should try to read that this month.

8565 Colleen, I've watched about 5 minutes of the show (before I read the books), so the only person I can picture is Sookie. But, yesterday I went online to check out the rest of the characters. None of them look ANYTHING like what I'm picturing them as in my head. I do have plans to watch the series sooner or later.

8565 I did a lot of Asian reading earlier in the year. One book, if you're interested in a bit of history that I would really recommend is The Fortune Cookie Chronicles Adventures in the World of Chinese Food. All about the history of Chinese food, with the occasional humorous bit thrown in there now and then to break it up.

I'm also interested in seeing what those of you reading Balzac think of it.

8565 I hadn't even planned on doing the reads for this month, because I hadn't hopped onto the group to take a look in a while. I was surprised to see that I had actually read two of the books on the chosen shelf this month!

I read Dead Until Dark and Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris. I gave them both 3 stars. I like the idea of this series a bit better than the Twilight series (which I have also read), but the author's writing skills leave a bit to be desired. Also, the character development is a little slow for me. I get a lot of the secondary characters more than I get Sookie. I'm planning on continuing the series, because they're a fun, easy read.

8565 I just read Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. For a romance, this was pretty good. It was a very sweet story. Probably not the best for me to read certain parts while I'm at work, thinking about the fact that I have a one-year-old. Maybe if I still sat in the office by myself, but boohooing in an office with three other people is a little awkward. There were some parts, where I just thought it was a little odd that this woman would include in a diary to her son. But, I guess if you don't expect him to read it until he's an adult, then I guess I understand.

Let me say, this book greatly redeemed itself from the last Patterson I read -- Sundays at Tiffany's. Anways, I gave this book 4 stars. I was very interested in the book from start to finish. I'm not much for crying, but this book gave me no choice!

I think I'm going to check with my mother-in-law about it today. I keep seeing the movie previews and wanting to start the book, then remembering I don't have it. I love Rachel McAdams, so I really want to see the movie, but I don't want to see it before I read the book.

I'm about halfway through Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. I'm thinking I'll be able to pick up Something Borrowed to read, too.

I actually read this one last year. Not too bad.

I'd love to read The Time Traveler's Wife, since the movie is coming out, but I loaned my copy to my mother-in-law to read before she goes back to school. Hopefully she'll be done by mid-August so I can read it then.

8565 I think I'll attempt to jump back into this group for this. For now, I'll start with Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas, since I know Patterson's books move quickly.

8565 Wow, I just read a book that only touched one shelf! Meh, so that puts me at 86 shelves touched with 5 books.

8565 I'm now at 85 shelves/4 books.

8565 No change for me. I've read too many overlapping books.

8565 At the very least, I'm hoping to The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell.

8565 The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman - 3 stars

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. I mean, I could see why kids would like it and Gaiman's writing style is interesting, but I guess I just didn't "get" it. While the basis of the story was great, it lacked any real kind of story to me. But, I'll give Gaiman another try with another book, but it might be a while.

8565 3 books
81 shelves
Feb 10, 2009 07:46AM

8565 Just added a kid's book I read with my son last night! Almost forgot about it!

1. 2 books
2. 72 total shelves
Feb 10, 2009 07:11AM

8565 Sheesh, I haven't read another book yet. I'm halfway through my second, which should add about 10 more shelves. :-) Sick baby at home leads to very little reading getting done.

Good job, everyone!

8565 I'm adding The Graveyard Book to the list!
