I plan to read two of Christopher Moore books... The Stupidest Angel A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, Version 2.0 and A Dirty Job. If I come across one or two more books that fit I will add them too.
I love it, Jim. My mom loves reading romance novels and , a little secret, In high school it was a favorite pastime of my friends and mine to sneak a book from my mom and try to find the sexy parts. I guess that is why I still blush when I read some romance novels. People may poke fun, but I wonder how many of them have ever took a peek at some point. Just wondering if you ever picked up Mona Lisa Awakening. I read this for one of the shelves we read (I think) and it was a blend of romance, fantasy, and horror.
Congrats photojim!!! Arlene- I loved the shelf this month, even though I only got to one book :(
I have several more books that fit on the shelf that I have just gotten, but most likely won't finish in time. I loved that it offered so many different options!
I was using it for the Pearl Harbor Task. I will definitely let you know. I still think about Moloka'i from time to time. Such a tragic story, but a story that I can't get out of my head especially because my dad's family is from Hawaii.
Lyn wrote: "I'm not sure who asked, but I think it was Kim L - Anyway, I just finished Honolulu by Alan Brennert This book centers around Jin, a Korean girl who travels to Honol..."Your review makes me want to read Honolulu even more now! I fit it into the Winter Challenge so I will be reading it soon!
A Rabbit's Eyes 3 1/2 starsIt is a story about a young teacher in Japan as she struggles with reaching 2 students with disabilities and injustices of the society. It is almost a coming of age for the teacher. It gives some insight to the culture of Japan and some of the issues both with class and in marriage.
I am with Rora. I started watching the series before reading the books so I just pictured the characters looking like those one the series...except for Eric. In the book it seems he is better looking than the TV counterpart. Although it did not upset me too much, I did notice how many liberties were taken with the TV show, especially the Tara character, who does not work at the bar with Sookie and well I thought was much more meek in the book.
I am also going to try to read The Last Chinese Chef this month too. I guess we will see how far I get. :)

Tara - if you see this. I finally got to [book:Honolulu|..."
Unfortunately, I haven't!! Maybe it will fit into the winter challenge!
I read A Living Nightmare. It was a quick and engrossing read! It was a little bit horror and a little bit paranormal. It was not too gory though. 4 stars
Pollyanna wrote: "I am really looking forward to Stardust, I have seen this film and love it. I am going to buy some more Gaiman once I have a bit of money :)"I really enjoyed Stardust the book and the movie, although I read the book first. I hope you do too.
I am going with A Thousand Splendid Suns and A Rabbit's Eyes. A Rabbit's eyes was not on the shelf but it is a japanese author and set in Japan so I think it is asian. If time allows I will try to get to another book like The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.
