8565 A favorite quote from Heidi by Johanna Spyri:

God certainly knows of some happiness for us which He is going to bring out of the trouble, only we must have patience and not run away. And then all at once something happens and we see clearly ourselves that God has had some good thought in His mind all along; but because we cannot see things beforehand, and only know how dreadfully miserable we are, we think it is always going to be so.

8565 That's how I felt about The Catcher in the Rye, too, Bea. I couldn't figure out why it is considered a classic and why some people list it as their top favorite book. I didn't like it much at all.

I did read a classic in March, but just now wrote my review. I read and LOVED Heidi by Johanna Spyri. I'm so glad I finally read it! Read my review here.

8565 Great choice, Scott! It's not a genre a read all the time, but I do enjoy it when I do. And I have lots of TBR books already on that shelf so I'll have fun choosing.

8565 I finished Enclave, then never posted here! I guess I needed a short break from the chain gang. But now I'm ready for someone to pick something else for me! (Read my review of Enclave here.)

For Susan, I pick Savvy by Ingrid Law. I loved that one and her next book Scumble as well. Hopefully you will, too!

The next person can pick from my on-deck shelf.

8565 Very cool! Thanks for sharing, Kazza. I have this problem, too. But then I find that I sometimes interrupt people who are reading so I can ask what they are reading. :) So even though it bothers me when people do it, I sometimes can't stop myself from doing it, too. So I try to be patient when people ask about my book - not as patient if they just want to talk. :)

8565 I read the most-abandoned book on GR (or at least it's been marked as abandoned by more people than any other book): The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I'm SO glad I finally got around to reading it - although I did have a few reservations about it. My review here.

But at least I'm enjoying reading great books!
8565 I'm going to just plan on one so that I'll (hopefully!) finish it - this time! :) I started Oliver Twist a few years ago and got more than half way through when I got distracted with other books and stopped. I always planned to go back and finish, but I never have. Now I have it on my Kindle and as an audiobook, so I really have no excuse, right? :)

ETA: Also, it's been so long since I read the first half that I'm going to start over from the beginning.

8565 I just finished The Akhenaten Adventure, which is also on my LOST list! I gave it 3.5 stars. Read my review here.

Last week I read Enclave, which was chosen for me in the Pick-a-Book Chain Gang. I need to post there, too! I gave it 3 stars - although it really did have a lot of 4-star moments. Maybe I should go up to 3.5? Read my review here.
