Whitaker, I have thought about this question since you posted it. My two favorite books are The Shell Seeker by Rosamond Pilcher and Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.
I imagine The Shell Seekers to smell of a house on the beach with all of the attendant beach smells - sand, sea salt, and the spray of the ocean.
I imagine The Pillars of the Earth to smell like the earth. While I read Pillars, I got the impression of a strong earthy, woodsy scent mixed with the metallic fragrance of stone.
Koko Taylor appeared on an episode of Arthur (the PBS show for children). She helped one of the characters overcome his stagefright.
What a great list. Thank you for all your hard work, Sherry. I am excited about some of the books on this list. I have read The Gift of Rain and recommend it to everyone I meet. It is supremely sublime. Do we vote via poll? P.S. Happy (early) Birthday to you, too.
Hello everyone. I am new to Constant Reader and I must say this is an excellent group. My birthday is coming up - May 14. I shall be older than dirt but still younger than the universe. Happy Birthday to all my fellow May babies!
