853 Let alone read, I'd just heard of only one of them "The Lazarus Project" . I feel so ... bad. :(
853 I think you both are right Capitu and Ruth. The response to the question of male v/s female driving varies with the countries, people and cultures. Or atleast, it used to.
I must say, the case in India is very similar to what Capitu said about Brazil. Even my grandma would never even think of driving, because of that built in fear or stigma that they won't be able to drive well. And this wasn't because my grandpa dominated or didn't want her to learn. It's just that she can't accept the idea.
In my generation however, these things are changing. The effects of male egoism and psychological blockages have come down and I see women driving quite comfortably on the roads. But, again, as Ruth said, the way of driving differs. Women are more cautious and don't get their ego hurt if someone rushes past them, which helps in bringing down road rage. But again, in tight situations of heavy and unregulated traffic, I've seen men cope better. That's my opinion.
853 Well, that is certainly news to me Ruth. What does he say about traffic in India? Most of the Indian women are terrible drivers.
853 I don't know about other countries but here in India, the incidents of road rage are very frequent. I really wanted to get everyone's opinion on this: "Do women drive differently than men? If yes, then is it better or worse ?"

853 It's swell! I hope it never dies.

853 :) Forget it

853 Oh!
Nov 08, 2008 08:16AM

853 Yeah, I guess we went a little out of thread.. :) Its pretty common on Goodreads, as I've learnt :)

853 Ohk.. The only series that I've watched are the old ones- Different Strokes, I dream of Jeanie, Bewitched and Full House. I tried to watch X-files but could never get the continuity.

853 Ohk.. Yeah Star Wars is definitely one of them. Does X-files count too ?

Sybil, Which Mr. and Mrs. Smith? The Brangelina one or the Alfred Hitchcock one ? If its the Brangelina one, I can imagine what the book would've been like..

853 I was just wondering .... We all know that innumerable movies are made every year, based on books. Has it occurred the other way round ? Ever, that a book was written based on the movie ?

853 :) I have more than 250 GB movies with me. And I'll have to buy a new disk now.

853 Count me in. I've a huge collection of my favs loaded onto an external hard disk.

853 Well, no one can read all the novels in a library. Its just that I love books so much that I'd love to collect them and put them in a personalized library. Besides, the experience of reading a book within a room full of shelves lined with books is amazing.
Kim, that was sad that you had to part with so many of your books. But it was a noble thing you did by giving them to a library. And your idea of the cafe is cool. I missed out on food.

853 Sure won't Andy. Pity that you had to move around so much. Its pretty hard to restrict yourself from buying a book that is sitting innocently on a shelf and you know its a great one. Perhaps you should switch to e-books which you can buy online. The selections will be less but something is better than nothing. Otherwise, you may wanna move to a place with a library nearby.

853 Candy, that was a nice arrangement you described. I bet it would've looked warm and cozy to be surrounded by shelves full of books. I love that sight. And yeah, you're right about the dark wood shelves in my library. There'll be just a few leather couches littered around(its a private library remember :)). I also hope of making a movie library on similar lines (maybe not so extravagant). Well, these are my dreams.

Pontalba, hmm...(sigh) someday... I hope it comes. But still, what could be better than a bookshelf spilling all over the hallway? :)

Mary Jo, I'm like you. Fiction, I believe can be read only one book at a time. No telephones was a good idea for a library.

853 I read the Timeline when I was 13 or 14. Obviously, the quantum physics and everything in that novel went OHT for me. But now when I know things, I really appreciate the novel.

853 Hey its perfectly ok. My name is a little complicated itself. And everyone has their own reason of reading !
Aha ! Regarding the dream library. Well, I would prefer a more classic touch, mind you as little computerization as possible and no high shelves that I've to use a ladder to reach to. And no arranging of colors. I love the beautiful mosaic created by different books with different covers.

853 I, for one, didn't know your story Candy. It sounds kinda heroic :), inspirational to non-readers. And yeah, you misspelled my name :).
About the Library, yeah, its my dream to own a huge library one day. You know the kinda personal ones with rich wood furniture and a huge reading table.

853 :) Kim, I don't want to think THAT ahead !
