We went 26 days without ranting. I'm proud, but I have to break the no ranting streak. My ex sent me an email last night. "Hey--How are you?" Earlier this year, he and I talked on and off. Then in April, he said he's leave me alone if I stopped bothering his friends and family. It was kind of out of the blue, but I said OK, but that I hoped he didn't think I had been or would ever again speak to his friends and family. He called me a liar. I decided it wasn't worth it to argue with him.
Over the summer, he called one night but I didn't answer since I was asleep and my phone was on silent. A month after that, he sent a text saying he was sorry for earlier that day. And in October he told me his cat died. I ignored all three of those incidents.
And then the email today. I just don't know what to do. Apparently ignoring him isn't working. But I'm not sure I want to even open up communication with him by responding and telling him to leave me alone.
Any thoughts?
Currently reading The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath and The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, to balance Sylvia. They're really good, but I can only read the journals in bits and pieces otherwise I start getting too much inside her head and that's not good.

I do feel pretty good...but I don't know what kind of corrections and additions I'm going to have to make, which worries me a little bit. I'll get some really good comments back the Tuesday after Thanksgiving...which gives me 1 week to make changes.

That's so exciting SBG!I must say...I'm happy that we're all using this thread more often than the rant thread. I guess we've transcended our issues.
I think I have a few books that I've owned for a good 5 years and haven't read yet. I am really not even joking when I say I own an obscene amount of books that I haven't read.

I won't work on my thesis over Thanksgiving...but I'll be working on my French paper, John Dillinger paper, and Bonnie and Clyde paper. The week after Thanksgiving is dead week and then finals. I have so much to do before then!

Well...I sent my thesis to my second reader and his first question was when am I finishing? Ouch! Looks like I might have a lot to do after Thanksgiving.
A lot of books have made me cry...Gone With the Wind
To Kill a Mockingbird
Catch-22
The Things They Carried
All Quiet on the Western Front
and most recently (aka, this morning!) The Story of Layla and Majnun.

I finished my thesis today. I'm sending it to a few people to proofread. Pretty much all I plan on doing is making a few minor changes if I need to.Other than that...I have to read 3 books and write 5 page (minimum) papers over them, read a fourth book, write a 4-6 page paper for French, and study for finals...one of which will probably be a take-home 10 page-ish essay. But I feel like I have things under control.
I'm the same way as you two!Another thing about my to-read shelf is that some of them are ones I'm really on the fence about but I don't want to forget the title.
I'll join.I like the idea of getting something off of the person's to-read list, but the problem with mine is that it's so vast that there are books I really, really, really want and books I'm not quite as hot to receive. Maybe we could come up with a top 5 list to post on a thread and our secret Santa could pick from that. This is, of course, assuming we decide to send each other books.
I had another dream about the professor I have a tiny crush on. In class the other day he said he couldn't pull the little pin out of his watch to adjust the time, so it's an hour off. I dreamt that I helped him fix his watch. Weird.
So, new plans. I realized that I don't want to go to law school because the idea of going $100,000 into debt, working a few years, and then quitting for about 20 to have kids just seems ridiculous to me. And I had a hard time actually visualizing myself as a lawyer. So...I started thinking about getting a masters in history. Then I went to a talk by a professor who has done some free-lance public history research projects for towns and other groups. That sounded like a lot of fun! Apparently, my thesis that I'm doing is a public history and I've had a blast doing it.Ergo, I'm going to go to grad school for a masters in public history and museum studies next year. (My mom is taking away my year off because I have a direction now and she doesn't want to hassle with taking me off of insurance and then trying to put my back on)
hate it...I live in an apartment so there's no getting away from them when they start up.Disney movies
That was a great introduction Matthew. Nice and succinct. I'm Lori, the other moderator. Welcome to the group.
I like a bunch of Disney movies...Peter Pan. Sleeping Beauty. Beauty and the Beast (goodness how I loved this movie when I was a kid!). Robin Hood.I never liked Pinnochio though because it just freaked me out when they became donkeys.
