8361 Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World was the first that I read and is still my favorite.

8361 It's not even the pay-to-play that has me playing WoW obsessively. I don't know if that's better or worse...
8361 Close to the middle of Tomcat in Love. I remember LOVING The Things They Carried in high school, and this book is okay so far but hasn't blown me away yet.
Traveling (25 new)
16 days ago, 11:25AM

8361 Almost all of my travel has been up and down California.
I've been to Arizona: my grandparents used to live out there and there was a lake trip with my HS best friend's family after graduation.
Nevada several times, but not since Rollercon 2006. I was 20 and my fake ID plans fell through. Bars looked the other way, casinos did not.
I went on the 'educational' east coast trip in 8th grade. We went to Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, Washington D.C and my tour bus got lost in West Virginia so I count that.

Next month I'm going to Wisconsin - I've never seen snow and I'm sooo excited. Okay, and the cheese. I will definitely be sporting a cheesehead hat thing.

In the next year or so I want to road trip up to Oregon and Washington. I would love to run around the east coast again and I will definitely be going to France before I forget all the french I learned.
I really hate the ocean and probably traveling by boat as well, but I have it in my head that I NEED to go to Alaska and that I MUST get there via an Alaskan cruise.

8361 I'm definitely in. Used books are a-okay with me.

edit: I am willing to ship internationally.
Mix CD Swap (205 new)

8361 This really did not work out the way I imagined you guys. I think IF we ever do this again it should be strictly one on one. Things have gotten so bungled and I'm sorry.
At this point I'm willing to make and personally send cds to everyone who was in my group. I live a few hours south of Nools and have not received mine - PLEASE let me know if you ever got your cds before I start this endeavor (maybe mine were lost in the mail? maybe life got hectic? I don't know, I'm over it).
The Hunger Games (15 new)

8361 I just finished it, like five minutes ago. I wound up getting sucked in really fast, and finished the book quite quickly. I am confused with some of the smaller details but they don't really effect the story at all.
23 days ago, 08:34PM

8361 I read everyday: usually for 15 minutes in the morning before work, whenever my boyfriend is driving us somewhere and it's still light out, or when I go outside to smoke. There are some other random times, but those are the constants.
8361 Jamie, it's pretty good. I don't understand how they're making a movie out of it (based on the previews). So many characters are introduced for such short periods of time and so many conspiracy theory type things from the last fifty or so years are covered. Interesting stuff.
Introductions! (44 new)

8361 I'm Justine (I like we all say that though about 90% of us have our actual names as our GR handle and it's right up there), I'm 23 and live in Salinas, CA. I spent the first twenty something years of my life in San Diego. I was very briefly a college students but have it up. I am currently trying to find time for all of my hobbies (reading, knitting, learning the ukulele, photography, watching TV shows I never watched watched when they were on on DVD, seeing indie films at the tiny theater, eating breakfast for lunch, and internet addiction). I'm preparing for a long life as a cat lady with little support from my boyfriend who draws the line at two, but I feel like 15 is actually the correct amount of cats to have.

8361 Kristen Bell.

What is the perfect number of pillows?
8361 I'm about done with The Men Who Stare at Goats. I'm really excited for the movie and OF COURSE (haha) have to read the books before seeing it.
Families (12 new)
31 days ago, 10:52AM

8361 I grew up with my mom and various stepfathers and stepsiblings. I stopped having anything to do with my dad and that part of my family when I was 14.
I have one half sister (older, 26) from my dad's first marriage, one 'full' brother (younger, 22 - married two years ago: I now have a sister in law, 22, and niece who turns one in a few months) and one half brother (younger, 17) from my mom's second marriage. I've also had various stepsiblings from my mom's second and third marraiges, but that's over with.
I heard my father recently (within the last few years) married his girlfriend of the past 13 or so years, which means I have a long-lost stepsister somewhere (the new wife had no contact with her daughter for over ten years) and I believe she is a little older than I am.
My dad's family: he has five brothers and they all have a few kids. Plus his mom - his dad died last year or maybe the year before.
My mom has one sister who has one daughter, she's almost 22 right now. Since the family is so small we used to get together a lot, but my grandmother died in 2006 and now we hardly ever see/talk to each other. There was a big falling out between my mom/aunt/grandpa while my grandma was in the hospital, so now we see everyone maybe once a year (less for me unless for something big like a wedding or a baby or something since I moved far far away and they all live within an hour of each other).

8361 I've become completely addicted to World of Warcraft. I never really thought about playing before (I only started two months ago), but it reminds me so much of Fable 2 - I've gone through several copies for xbox and none of them ever work. I play other video games with the boy sometimes, lego games on wii or skate and skate 2.
I used to play pogo games a few years ago, but kind of got over it.
I love Fall!! (50 new)

8361 Kimberly - Pumpkin scented conditioner?!? Who makes this?
I love Fall!! (50 new)
Oct 21, 2009 10:59AM

8361 Jamie, I love how happy you look compared to how sad your boyfriend looks!

I love...
pumpkin flavored everything!
the clothes - layers! scarves! hats!
some of the weather (somedays it's too cold)
warm drinks
Christmas shopping
Rainy weekends - I can stay in and not feel like such a recluse
Halloween!

Fall is my favorite season. In San Diego, it's just a cooler summer with like three days of rain and here on the central coast it's crazy. Last year summer didn't hit until October and this year it's been raining and cold one day and almost 80 the next. Nothing will start changing colors until next month probably.
Fashion Addicts (21 new)
Oct 21, 2009 10:47AM

8361 I'm with Heather. I pick up all my basics at Target or Old Navy and get my less necessary things from Forever 21 or various online stores. I try to buy all of my accessories from Etsy or make them myself. Shoes are a little different, I put a lot of effort into finding a balance of what I want with what will actually work for me: I have wide flat feet and haaaaate having too much visible toe, so I have a lot of retro-y peep toe heels.
I have been having a fashion identity crisis for a while, but I'm setting into a quirky/comfy look and trying to mix in more 'girly' since my hair is so short.

I'll usually pick up Nylon if I see a new one while book shopping, and I get Glamour magazine - I used to get Domino but it went under and this is what they're sending me instead. Other than that, I read my friend Krystal's fashion blog (which I totally recommend): whatisrealityanyway.com
Ask a Question!! (106 new)

8361 I love all ice cream. I used to work at an ice cream shop called Moo Time that is a lot like Coldstone, but our ice cream wasn't made from powder. Double Dark Chocolate with peanut butter remains my first choice, but if I feel like mixing it up I might go with Apple Pie ice cream with some caramel and graham cracker. Since this only exists in San Diego, I'm most likely to just pick up some Moose Tracks from the store.

What upcoming movie release are you most looking forward to?

8361 Stitch 'N Bitch The Knitter's Handbook is very good. It has a lot of illustrations and detailed instructions and patterns for different levels of knitters, though some are kind of impractical, silly, or things you wouldn't ever really want in your life. I get patterns online and consult it a lot on how to do the different kinds of stitches.
8361 I finally started The Handmaid's Tale and I'm about halfway through. I'm enjoying it so far, but I feel like I'm waiting for something to happpe.
