8361 My American Revolution history class required about 7 books, and that's the most I've ever had to read for a class. I actually didn't do all of the reading, I only bought two of the books and read from them.
I actually tend not to do the required reading, or to just skim before a test. It's terrible, but I read way more "fun" books, than I do books for school.

8361 It's definately worth the money, Melody :-)

The only thing which kind of bothered me was that I felt Mercedes got the raw end of the deal.

8361 I have a lot of shelves, 32 to be exact. When I add a book TBR, I typically put it on all applicable shelves at the time. I also like to see all of my shelves in the cloud function.

8361 I bet if your cousin bought several of her books and had her autograph them, they could make a killing in profits online.

8361 Speaking of Edward being sparkly, there was a really funny FML yesterday which made me think of this:

Today, I was taking a shower and I saw a new body wash that said "radiance ribbons." That sounded a little effeminate, but it smelled manly enough and the only alternative was normal soap, so I used it. Just now, I stepped out into the sun and found out what "radiance ribbons" means. I sparkle. FML

8361 I have that link on my homepage too. Ha ha. If my marriage was in trouble, I think I'd go to a marriage counselor, as opposed to a YA romance novel.

8361 Spoiler for chapter XXXI - Italy -Sinbad The Sailor

OH MY GOD. No wonder this book was so abridged by the Victorians. We've got "Sinbad" feeding Franz hashish, and Franz is so high he's having sex with statues. What a great book this is shaping up to be.

Did anyone else's jaw drop a little at this part?

8361 I feel like August was bipolar, since he was very mercurial, one minute he's Mr. Nice-Guy come eat our fancy food, the next he's beating the hell out of Rosie.
8361 I am such a sap, I liked when she thought Jim and stood her up, then she gets caught in the rain and comes back in to her apartment and Jim is waiting for her, and Majorie is nervous about looking terrible. I definately related to the girls. Oh, I also liked it when Majorie and the salesman were getting drunk off of the brandy on the third floor ha ha.
8361 Lynn, I loved Summer at Tiffany! What is your favorite part?

8361 I loved Faria. I thought he was so intriguing and I loved that he was a great surrogate father-type figure, especially as he helped Edmund exercise his mind. Essentially I see him as a saviour-character and he definately really added to the storyline. I also thought it was funny that the inspector would enjoy visiting him because he was the amusing madman ha ha.

8361 ----Spoilers For Chapter XX The Graveyard of the Chateau D'If---

What a brilliant horrific way to escape imprisonment. I was at turns horrified and amazed.

Does any one else here think Villefort is a grade-A douchebag?

8361 Category 1: The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood
Jul 01, 2009 08:47AM

8361 I am currently reading this one. I am reading the unabridged Penguin classics version translated by Robin Buss. I find that it is translated very well so far, the language doesn't feel outdates, and on the whole, when I devote time to read this the pages just fly by.
8361 I'm currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged) as well. I'm about 100 pages into it, and I definately enjoy the build-up, especially because I kept hoping Villefort won't put Edmond in jail, but obviously he did, otherwise, why would Edmond want revenge?

8361 I remember participating in a discussion on another board for this book, and an interesting question was raised. Some people felt that the end, when Jacob goes to join the circus might have been Jacob's imagination, as during parts of the book Jacob gives indication of forgetting things, so maybe he has some form of dementia. I feel this is plausible, as what person in their right mind just says to a stranger, yeah sure, join my circus, all you can really do is take tickets, but sure, go ahead, I'll be financially responsible for you.
Any thoughts?

You can do it! What I find helps is word vomiting then using the highlight tool to go back and put things in.

8361 I love adding books to the GR TBR. I also love seeing the number of books next to my name grow. I try to keep my TBR smaller than my read list, so I purposely look for every single book I've ever read just to put it on my read list, even if it's a picture book.

I should be typing an essay right now, but the motivation just isn't there.

8361 I'm working as much as I can over the summer. I will take whatever job I can get, at this point, as I need to start saving for the fall, while I'm student teaching.
