Eva -- I didn't organize anything really. To list a giveaway just go to books, click on giveaways, and then find where it says 'list a giveaway.' Goodreads will pick your winners at the end of the time as well.
Eva -- PS -- If you look through the book ratings that show up on that page for the book I am giving away, you will see that I've had good action since I posted the ad (around Aug 1) -- I've had 6 people post it as to-read and one person review it so they read it. As the giveaway is in process, I can see who has entered the contest (click the more details button) and I have asked many of these readers to be a friend. A few of them became followers. One woman who entered the contest reviews in other on-line places so I recognized her name. All in all, it's a good investment for about $6 (I just figure postage on mailing three of my books to the winners).
Eva -- I listed my two books here on Goodreads. Here's a link to one of the giveaways --

Darcia -- Good to know you found it a good alternative to the ad. I've been keeping an eye on things and noticed that some of the folks entering the contest went on to list other books of mine that they had read on their 'read' list or became my friend and said they hoped to read some of my books. so I know there is some action as a result.
Speakings of the ads on Goodreads, I think you might get better results by listing a book giveaway (if you have one). I've done that with two books (giving away three of each title) and so far I have over 300 entries on both of them (it might go to 400 each by the end of the contest). The books are free to me so it'll cost me about $12 per book to send out the winning copies and I have had 400 clicks per book. That seems to me better than getting an ad. What do you think?
Hello -- I'm a published author with Steeple Hill (working on my 24th and 25th novels with them), and I just discovered Goodreads a month or so ago. I'm finding my way around on the site and learning lots. I write primarily contemporary, but have a couple of historicals (American West) and am hoping to do more in that era.
