8322 Jose and Christina,

A fitting Tribute to a Great American, and more important it is from your hearts.

Thank you both for caring and for sharing.

8322 Darcia,

Dave has given you excellent advice.

I checked with Bartnes and Noble, Books-A-Million and Borders, each and every store in Naples, Fort Myers and Miami-Fort Lauderdale. I personally visited each and every store, and was met with the exact same answer. "You must submit your book to Corporate - - and they do not even consider POD, Self-Publishing or Vanity books." Each store I visited was corporately owned. But, I totllay agree with Dave, BANG on DOORS, DON'T GIVE UP, and seek out local media and Independent book stores.

I am definitely going to purchase your books, they must be good, just by the titles.

8322 Good Morning Maryanne,

I will be anxiously awaiting your book.

My good friend, the late David Janssen had just completed three days of filming "Father Damien" when he died unexpectedly, February 13, 1980. He had passed a complete physical just five days before the start of filming this major motion picture.

8322 Thank you, MaryAnne, I will get your book!

8322 Hi Darcia,
I checked with B&N, B-A-M, Borders. All say you have to go through Corporate Headquarters. Each Corporate Headquartetrs told me they do not carry in stock POD, Self-Published or Vanity books. I strongly suggest, since you live in a major metro area, contact (in person) the owner/managers of the Independent Book Stores. First see if they will give you shelf space for five or eight books, then see if they will let you do a signing in their store. Also, check with your local supermarkets and drug stores that have book sections. In addition, contact your local radio-tv stations, "community" programs, you could possibly get a "live" interview on one or more of them.
What is the name of your book?
Good Luck and God Bless,

Michael Phelps

8322 Dear Maryanne Raphael,

I congratulate you. I just visited your page on Author's Den. I am quite impressed. You have a
wide spectrum of subject matter, and a few I have to put on my "To Be Read" list. I salute your Grandfather, he must be a very wise man.

Best regards,

8322 Hi FD,

Let me know where to find you on the PIVTR site - it is very confusing.
Jul 31, 2009 06:12AM

8322 Thank you Robin and Steven.

I have a debut novel, "The Execution of Justice", based on a true story of the murder of a Police officer. Then on July 10th., I released the Fourth Edition of "DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE", which I Co-authored with Ellie Janssen, the late actor's first wife. It is selling extremely well, and it is good to have these links and the knowledge to track the sales.
Your Blog is outstanding, Robin . . . Thanks again.

8322 Dave,
I commend you! That is a very thoughtful act on your part, and one greatly appreciated by the receiver, no doubt. Living in a major metropolitan area, (NYC and Miami), people are blessed to have quite a number of Public Libraries, and they are always full, not to mention commercial brick & mortar bookstores. I think your point of view is admirable, and I will follow suit when the opportunity presents itself.

8322 I have to agree with you Dave. I think your wife and I are lucky, when I go out to a movie, I enjoy (or not) for a couple of hours, and an hour later, I couldn't tell you the name of the Stars. I read a book, that I will remember from beginning to end, and everything in between. I don't give them away anymore, as I used to. I tell people, "BUY the BOOK . . . I hope you enjoy it as much as I did." In that way, IF they buy the book, I'm doing my part for the Author who put so much into it.

8322 From what I've been reading on Media websites ( e.g: Publishers Weekly and MediaBistro), the forecasts for the E-Book is strong, and the major publishers are doing serious research into the future viability of E-books being the primary mode of publishing. Personally, I cannot see that happening. I am certain there are millions of people around the world who, like me, treasure a good book, holding it, reading it, enjoying it, and then placing it on a shelf in my library. Years ago, before my career-change to becoming a Writer, I had personally autographed books from Roy Cohn, Esquire, Rock Hudson, & Tennessee Williams . . . I "loaned" them to "friends", and NEVER got them back. The same happened to my personal copy of the original "DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE", and one of only two Galleys for the Janssen book, which I co-authored with Ellie Janssen. That was just four years ago. I ended up buying a copy of the Janssen book over the Internet at $50.00, and it turned out to be a bad Library copy. Now, I NEVER lend a book. If a friend wants to read a book that I have in my bookcases, he/she is welcome to do so, as they sit an an easy chair in my library, as Rico der Hunter III (my nice, friendly German Shephed stands guard).

8322 Good Morning Ed and Dave,

Funny, we are talking about Kindle and EBooks. I opened my E-mail on msn this morning, and there is a Barnes and Noble message to "Download" their FREE E-Reader. I did, just to see if I will get the hang of reading a book electronically. I'll start with a "short" book, and let you all know.

Jul 28, 2009 07:46PM

8322 Hi Ed and Dave,

Now I know why I have "put off" buying the Kindle . . and I'm not a Life Member of the Procrastinators of Earth. In my office, where I do my writing, I have three large barrister bookcases, full of books! I like the REAL thing! Thanks, guys for helping me make up my mind. I am "gizmo challenged" anyway.
Jul 28, 2009 05:42PM

8322 I have yet to buy a Kindle, but plan to in the very near future. I know a lot of business people, lawyers who love their Kindles, and especially for long flights, when they are out, at their favorite Starbucks, etc. Still, I don't know if I'll adjust to reading a 300-400 page novel on Kindle. Will let you know. My book (397 paages) is on Kindle, don't know if it's sold any yet.

8322 Good Morning Goodreaders,

Just a quick note. I have released the Fourth Edition of DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE by Ellie Janssen and Michael Phelps. This is the only authorized Biography of the late actor, best known for being AMERICA's MOST WANTED, Man-On-The-Run as "Dr. Richard Kimble" in the ground-breaking, record-setting, awards winning Quinn Matrtin Productions, ABC Television's "THE FUGITIVE". This is an Update of the original book, containing thirty-four photos from Ellie's private collection of some of Hollywood's major stars including; JOHN WAYNE, ANTHONY QUINN, BOB HOPE,GREGORY PECK, RONALD REAGAN (pre-White House years), SUZANNE PLESHETTE, RAQUEL WELCH, BARBARA STANWYCK, and more.
I was overwhelmed when the Founder of the www.davidjanssen.net sent a letter to over 5,000 fans announcing the release of this book at the Original 1994 Publication price of $18.95 (plus $2.77 S&H). I spent the entire day yesterday (over 12 hours), signing books to be sent out. However, I'm not complaining.
The original book, published in Hardcover in December of 1994, and then in Paperback in 1995 and 1996, sold over 1.2 million copies. There are nine of the original books being sold on the Internet as "Collector's Copies" at prices ranging from $66.00 to $220.00 . . . and they are USED! You

8322 This sounds very interesting, Ed. Please keep us informed. Marketing is the key, and the hardest part of an Author's job, since it keeps us from WRTING!
