My third book featuring recipes for everyday cooking with African herbs and spices Ja! release date May 20, 2009 available at www.Pyramidbooks.net and www.Amazon.com
Ja!
African herb and spice blends, there are more exciting spices in your food life than just salt and pepper. The diversity of spices tickles the senses and awakens the food pallet. Spices such as cardamom, rose flower water, mint, and turmeric add depth and dimension to food and shape the taste intensity. From such an enormous continent different styles of cooking, diverse flavors, textures and ingredients are condensed into one spice journal. Ja! The basic art of traditional African cooking lies in the blending of herbs and spices to yield delicate distinctions in the flavor of food. Add a new aroma to your food life.

From my understanding BookSurge and CreateSpace are both owned by Amazon. I'm publishing though CreateSpace now and BookSurge for some reason keeps emailing me about publishing.
Maybe I am reading the posts wrong. Since when is setting lofty goals wrong? If you want to better yourself, you have to set high goals. I know I do not want to settle for mediocre and then happy when I achieve the status. To me that is not good enough. The problem is not setting your goals to high but not having a plan to achieve those goals.
Ok Bill, I took your advice and listed my books on eBay. My eBay account was just sitting there anyway so why not use it to advertise my book. For 7 days worth of advertisemnt I will spend .80 cents. Good idea.
My first royalty check was $30 which paid for a 1/2 tank of gas. I wish I could leave my day job to write fulltime but how would that affect my family. I read a story of a woman who quit her job, moved her and her four kids into her mother’s basement. She worked on perfecting a BBQ sauce recipe for 2 years. In the end quitting her job worked out since she now makes millions. However, does the end really justify the means?
I'm always looking to educate myself on the entire process of self-publishing. Funny it seems so so long ago I thought all you had to do was write the book and everything else would take care of itself. I self published a book of poetry A Press Release from the Color Black this my 3rd book. But when people ask me how are my books "real" books doing it always stuns me.
Creatspace is super easy to display your work on Amazon. But before you do read all about creatspace from authors who have printed with them https://www.createspace.com/en/community...
Wow, great advice Maryanne. I think starting locally and branching out with family and friends by your side is always a good idea.
I guess the type of book promotion depends on the type of book you are marketing. For kids books the summertime is perfect for asking summercamps to let you do a story hour with the kids. Also, if you have a cookbook you can offer to teach cooking classes though your local community center (kids and senior) like I did with my cookbook A Sweet Taste of Africa. Romance novels etc.. any author or publisher can sign up with www.alibris.com and sell books though Amazon, Books a Million, Boarders etc.. but this only for online sales.
