822 Well, I certainly hope you'll blame Richard Matheson and not me. :) Vampires don't bother me too much. Now, if they had been zombies...

822 Anna,
I just finished "I Am Legend" last night. I didn't think it was that scary. YMMV, of course. It was a quick read, too; I liked it. Not that I would deter you from reading Jane Austen, or anything. She's one of my favorites!

822 And I've probably seen 100 movies this year. My husband (who, sadly, does not read anything except aquarium books and gun magazines) has to see just about every new movie that comes out.

I think I'll try to set a goal of 20 books for 2008. I just started two books that I will include on the 2008 list when they are finished to give myself a jump start. Hey, it's my list, I'll cheat if I want to!

822 I read about 15 books this year. I was keeping a list and lost it, so it might be a couple more than that. I'm a very slow reader and it sometimes takes me a month or more to finish one book. As a result, some years I only get through about half what I did this year. I was pretty proud of myself this year and refuse to have my self-esteem lowered by you 100+ books a year people. ;) I just can't do that!

822 Like everyone else, I'm having a hard time choosing just three. Ask me again tomorrow and the list might be completely different!
1. Main Street, Sinclair Lewis. I adore Sinclair Lewis and think too few people are reading him these days. I encourage people to give him a try. I've read three of his books so far (Main Street, Babbitt, Arrowsmith) and am working on a fourth. This one's still my favorite so far.
2. Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte. This book is like comfort food for the eyes to me. I still get chills when I read the last page.
3. On the Road, Jack Kerouac. The book I love that everyone else seems to hate. I can't help it, this book just spoke to me.
