7646 Thanks Joy! I always enjoy your comparisons.

7646 Joy, you'll just have to watch both and post comments so the rest of us will know which to watch (-:

7646 Yes, he based the book on Beowulf.

7646 I like Crichton too but haven't read "Timeline", I'll have to add it to my list. I loved "Eaters of the Dead" but I read it years ago and should probably reread it too.
7646 Thanks for the help Joy. There are parts of the book I enjoy and characters, like Mooshum (I like his humor, esp. when he and his brother torment the priest), that are very interesting. But I get mixed up at times about who is speaking.

7646 Yes, Supernatural has a lot of humor too. I loved the one with the depressed Teddy Bear(-:

7646 I've seen "The Brothers Grimm" multiple times, my sons liked it, bought it and watched it multiple times, and I liked it. I thought it was pretty funny a lot of the time but I never expected it to be a serious historical film about the Grimm Brothers.

7646 I'll have to put "Nobody's Fool" on by to read list, I like Richard Russo and have just not gotten around to reading this one. I'm still trying to finish "Plague of Doves", not much time lately and this is not a fast read.

7646 Oh, I agree! It kept me from wanting to go in any water that wasn't a swimming pool (-: (and I live in New York (-:)
7646 I'm not a Danielle Steele fan either but I know a lot of people who just love her books.
7646 I read "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" and thought it was great. We read in a book club we had going a work for a while. A mystery with a twist, I always like that.

7646 Hi Alice, I haven't read any his books in years but your right that some of them could get pretty bloody. I also agree that some times they end up publishing books for all the wrong reasons and it's a shame. The publishers know the writer has a fan base and they capitalize on that.
7646 I've just started using audio books. I listen to them on my drive to and from work. The first one was "Marley and Me" which was read by the author who did a nice job but now I am listening to "Sleeping Murder" and Agatha Christie novel narrated by Rosemary Leach and what a difference...as you stated Joy she has so much more "dramatic flair" which makes it a much more enjoyable experience. I hope to get a larger mp3 player in the future so that I can download books.
7646 Hope things improve soon, hang in there! Your in our thoughts and prayers.
7646 Joy, I haven't read the "Loop Group" so I can't tell you. Sorry! What is it about? All I can say is that I did enjoy most of his books. Having said that, I do think he can go over the top sometimes with situations he creates in his novels. The list I posted was of his books that I remember having read and liked, that list doesn't even put a dent in the number of books he's written (-:
7646 P.S. Alice, I cried too!
7646 Hi, "Comanche Moon" and "Streets of Laredo" are the other two books of the Lonesome Dove Trilogy. They are good books but not as good as "Lonesome Dove". "Comanche Moon" is out on DVD, and I think "Streets of Laredo" is but I'm not sure, someone else might know. I've read a lot of his books but never "Loop Group" so I can't comment on that but "Horseman Pass By", "Terms of Endearment", "The Last Picture Show", "Evening Star", "Desert Rose", "Anything for Billy" are all good reads but to me "Lonesome Dove" is the leader. This thread had got me thinking I should pick up some of his books again (-:
7646 Hi Joy, this is one of the few movies I have ever seen that matched up to the book and this is one of my favorite books. I just love the characters, they came alive for me.
