1. The True & Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters & Me & Emma
2. Ella Minnow Pea & Fahrenheit 451
3. Bee Season & Secret Life of Bees
I've never considered that my reading habits might follow the weather/seasons...but thinking about it, I'm pretty sure they don't. After all, it's spring and I'm reading Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights!
However, that might have something to do with the fact that I live in Seattle, and get to curl up while it rains all the time--more often than I'd like. :)
I love 27 Dresses! Thought that was such a cute movie, especially with Katherine Heigl and James Marsden playing the leads. Predictable, sure, but fun to watch.
I am so excited to read The Picture of Dorian Gray...it completely creeped me out the first time I read it. Hopefully things will have changed the second time around!
1. The True and Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters: A Novel and Me and Emma.
Both novels explore the relationships between sisters. I was particularly interested in the first novel mentioned because it deals with cancer in the family, which is something my family is currently struggling with.
Edit:
2. Ella Minnow Pea and Fahrenheit 451.
I thought it was a brilliant nomination by several others. Even though I didn't care at all for Fahrenheit 451 when I tried reading it a few years ago, I'd be willing to give it another go. :)
They all have their faults. Logan was too much of a player, in my opinion--he didn't come across as completely genuine or faithful to Rory.
Jess was amazing (and my favorite), but his rebellious streak got to me sometimes, though it was part of his appeal. I didn't like his lack of respect for basically everyone but Rory.
As for Dean...he just seemed too perfect or something. I know he did a lot of great stuff for Rory, but he always got on my nerves. He was sweet, and kind of boring and predictable.
I totally agree with Tori: the NEW Jess was the most appealing of the three. He had settled and found something he was passionate about, and got the whole "bad boy" thing out of his system.
I saw Miss Pettigrew over the weekend....it's really good! Not terribly unpredictable or original, but I liked it nonetheless.
Oooo! I have Girl Scout cookies right now...we just had a few boxes delivered. Thin Mints and whatever the peanut butter ones are called. Amazing!
I completely agree with Sarah--"Once" was definitely not my favorite either. I just didn't like the song!
I'm sad Enchanted didn't come away with anything for best song...however, I suppose having 3 nominations means the votes were diluted that much more. Oh well. It's still amazing! :)
Just FIVE?? Sad.-The Bible
-The Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. Might as well have an island book. :)
-Drawing Near by John Bevere
-Les Miserables, because it would take me forever to finish it.
-Chronicles of Narnia--any one.
Or, something by Austen or Shakespeare. I like the idea of used the "complete works" books!
I agree with Sera. I felt so terribly behind this month because people were reading so quickly as soon as the voting was posted...I think that if we have a month to get started as well as finish up the other books, then maybe more people can be on the same page with reading (even though I know, as I've been told, that it's okay if everyone reads at different paces :).
Wow--suddenly I feel so inspired to redecorate my reading corner!
Congratulations, Sarah, on filling your bookshelf with *mostly* classics! I'm afraid I have way too little fluff at the moment...my overcrowded bookshelf is crammed with classics and nothing else.
Becoming Jane was okay, in my opinion. Not so much worth a trip to the theaters, but it's good as a rental. Personally, I didn't care for Anne Hathaway's performance as Jane--it wasn't entirely convincing.
Really? I'll have to rent that movie. I absolutely loved Ten Little Indians--it's by far my favorite Agatha Christie book.
