They emerge with popular clarity when the two sides used a common body of material to reach opposite conclusions.

I was somewhat wrong. Karlruhe is not far from me, but not the town I was thinking as in by Mannheim
Speaking of World War II. I remembered that I really loved The Nazi Officer's Wife How One Jewish Woman Survived the Holocaust It's an amazing story about a Jewish woman (the author) that made it through the Holocaust mostly because she married a Nazi officer. (they fell in love despite their difference)and was given a fake German idenitity.
Kathryn, I totally added those first 2 books you mentioned to my to-read list. They look fun and interesting.
And Marion, I didn't know about that one by Bryson. I'm checking that one out too. I'm reading one of his books-it's my first by him, but my hub loves him.
Thank you both! :)
The Glass Castle A Memoir is a very interesting memoir that almost seemed unreal..one of my favorite books. Other non-fiction that I really enjoy are usually sociological. I love reading/learning about other cultures. I don't get a lot of time to read, but that doesn't stop me from buying books. :) Some books that I own (and are on my to-read list) are Mao's Last Dancer, Suite Française, The Sewing Circles of Herat A Personal Voyage Through Afghanistan, and Persian Mirrors The Elusive Face of Iran. I agree though, it all depends on what topics you find interesting.
Thanks, Marion. We moved here for my husband's job. We are outside of Kaiserslautern. I'm not familiar with Lindau but I'll definitely put it on my list of places to check out. Sounds beautiful like most of Germany that I've seen-which isn't much. :)
oh, and I just saw that there are ones here that are in Germany. We just moved here to Germany, so I'm always interested in meeting other people to learn more about the area. :)
Hello, I'm new here. I love Gilmore Girls although I don't think I've caught *every* episode. My husband introduced me to the show. :) I love to read and am always looking for something new. I've been meaning to join a book club for awhile, so what better time than now, the new year, to start. I'll begin with February, though.
