On a similar note, can anyone recommend any books or websites that may contain tips about gardening in the South-West, or any desert for that matter?

Inder, Taylor, Jen, thanks for the great suggestions! We will definitely be putting several of these to use.

As for the purplettes, we ended up roasting several under our broiler and serving them on the side of tonights meal. Absolutely delicious, I really hope that they have more next week.

Hello all!

So our CSA provided us with some chard and purplette onions the other day and I'm at a complete loss as to what to do with them. I've never had either veggie before, though I sampled the onions and they're extremely mild and almost sweet.

Do any of you have some suggestions as to some dishes that we could make with these fresh and tasty veggies?
