Hmm. Josh in the "Seasons of the Heart" series stood out, though I haven't read them in so long. I guess he stood out because he was red-haired, like two of my brothers, and the series was centered on a boy/man, which is unusual for Janette Oke. Also, the young man (Joel?) in "Another Homecoming" stood out, as he reminded me of my own brother, Joel, and it made me cry when he got sick in the book. Missie stood out because she shares my name (Missy), and I admired her adventurous, hard-working spirit (not quite like mine, I'm afraid). Damaris stood out in "A Woman Named Damaris," though I only vaguely remember the book, as I read it about a dozen years ago. Other characters, too, but these may be my favorite.
I don't think she has any suitors when traveling. I would go check it out, but don't know exactly where the books are (we just moved and some things are still packed in boxes).
Belinda should have had blond hair to begin with, or at least that's how she was in the book. In the book Belinda was a nurse and travels to Europe with the old lady patient, which would have been more interesting in my opinion, but more expensive to make into a movie, I'm sure.
I agree with Candace. I enjoyed the first movie especially, and some of the others, but I also don't like that they kill off men to allow for more romance (there can be romance without that). And I like the books, too, in that they're not overly romantic or feminist (they too often make the women characters ahead of their time, like being doctors instead of nurses, etc). I haven't actually seen the last two or three movies in the series, though, so I'm basing that off what I've seen of the trailers. The acting isn't too great on the part of everyone, but some of the actors/actresses are quite good, in my opinion.
Yes, writing is fun, though I have to be in the mood for it (I know true writers just make themselves write even if they aren't in the mood, but...).I forgot about my other favorites, "Another Homecoming" and "Tomorrow's Dream." They are in a more modern time-period, but they made me cry and were very good.
I also loved The Canadian West Series (though I've only read the first two so far) and the Song of Acadia Series.
MiJo--you're writing a novel? Cool! I love to write, too, and I'm writing a novel, too. (I've hardly ever started any of the novels I've started, and I've started many over the years, but I hope I can finish the one I'm currently working on and perhaps publish it.)
I really like "A Gown of Spanish Lace." Not sure it's my favorite, though. I really liked the "Seasons of the Heart" series. Oh, and "A Woman Named Damaris." :) I also think Wick focuses too much on romance, at least in the one I read by her (The Princess). I really like Beverly Lewis's books, though, even though they do include a lot of romance. Her's are not heavy with kissing and stuff, so I like them.
I think the first one I read was "Love Comes Softly," too. Then the Seasons of the Heart Series, which I really liked. (I like most of her novels.)
