71 Shinchosha Publishing announced that they would publish Murakami's new novel titled 1Q84 in Japan in the early summer of 2009. 1Q84 is pronounced as 'ichi kyū hachi yon', the same as 1984, as 9 is also pronounced as 'kyū' in Japanese.[24:]

71 I read The New York Trilogy by Auster a few weeks ago. As others have said, it shares some of the motifs of Murakami novels. Highly recommended!

71 Question: Why are you interested in ears.

Haruki Murakami: At some point in my life I was interested in ears. But not now. Those ears are gone.

71 thought you guys might be interested in this new movie directed by michel gondry, leos carax, and bong joon-ho. bong's segment seems especially murakami-esque.

71 I'd have to say Hard-Boiled Wonderland with A Wild Sheep Chase as a close second. The Sheep Man is one of my favorite Murakami characters so I'm really looking forward to Dance Dance Dance.

Wind-Up was my first Murakami, so I don't think I had developed a full appreciation for him at that point. I'll definitely re-read it at some point.

While I enjoyed after the quake, I still prefer his novels.

Just started Kafka on the Shore...
