I did, and like other vampire movies based off of young adult novels I'm not fond of it. I haven't read the books so I don't know how close it is but to me it's just the same as all other teenage vampire concepts.
I just started watching the show because curiosity finally got the best of me. I'm nearly done with season 1 and I'm trying my hardest to catch up with season 2. So far it's pretty interesting, I'm trying to over look the fact that HBO tends to make their shows come close to porn at times but other then the overly excited libido of everyone it is pretty good.

Too true, we are in a need of a really good vampire movie.

I wouldn't quite expect the movie to be like the book, if you've read it that is. The movie doesn't really put as much into the history as the book did. I saw the movie first and it made it harder for me at times to get through the book.
The movie I Am Legend was pretty good, I enjoyed it. I'll have to wait a bit before reading the book though, I don't like reading books with the movie fresh on my mind. I wasn't too fond of Thirty Days of Night, the concept was really good but somethings about it I didn't like. It was a good movie though.
Interview is the first book of the series. I am now on book 8 I believe and the mention of burning is few and far between. The way the burn factor works in her books has to do with the way they mature. The older the vampire the more potent their blood is, so for instance if a younger vampire were to drink from a ancient then they would gain more power from it. So the older they get they mature...much like wine. The older the better. lol It all has to do with the way the vampire species was created in Anne Rice's books. I agree that the books can get dull in parts and the amount of detail can get overwhelming but once I got use to it I love them.
Well I like the concept of Rice's burning though, once the vampire 'matures' they merely get a tan or a sunburn only the "fledglings" get burnt. So it's not as stereotypical because it becomes must less of a factor as the books progress.
I'm sorry to hear that you are sick, but I'm glad that you're keeping your head up.
I haven't been able to do too much between working and trying to find some sort of peace at home. So things like tv get pushed to the side and I forget, I have the memory of a 2 year old most days. lol I'm contemplating getting either a cheaper cello or violin to learn. I just can't decide which one, I love the sound of the cello but it's more expensive then the violin.
@yuki: The bratprince is quite the vampire isn't he. Very regal and yet so...rash at times. I'm more of a Armand fan, I can't resist the charm of the auburn haired angel. But one can't help but like Lestat.
Lol, I was going to watch but to my dismay those channels have been canceled from our dis subscription so I missed it. I've bookmarked that site so I'll probably read some more tonight. I've been trying to read at least 5 books/short stories a month so now that I've hit my main 5 I can relax and jump around for a bit.
I still need to take time to read all the way through Carmilla. I finished The Vampyre rather quickly. So I've completed 2 of the 3.
Great! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I enjoyed Interview, it is somewhat different from the movie. I hope you can find it, I think it's worth giving a shot.Anne Rice has wonderful detail and her characters are wonderful most of the time
I'll have to try the reading to each other thing, lol. He'll probably just look at me funny hehe. I didn't realize really that guitars sold for those prices, violins are really pricey. We own two that my great granddad made by hand and when we got them appraised I wanted to faint. The man was a true genius, no extra schooling after high school and yet he was working right along side PH.D's. He could look at something and make it, or in the cases of instruments make it, learn it quickly, and play it like a pro. Books are my main source of entertainment other then the internet. I hardly watch tv, it all seems pretty mindless anymore save a few good unique shows. I prefer to create as I see something, it's a priceless experience, of course if you enjoy the book...visualizing something you dislike may make it worse but in the end still priceless.lol
The Southern Vampire Mysteries...I think is the name of the book series. Or Trueblood as it's known on tv
I read the book before the hype thankfully and liked it...I mean the plot was super simple and over done in the teenage fantasy and there was alot that could of been improved so when the craze started happening the small amount of like I had was gone instantly. Besides after a point in the book you start to guess what's going to happen next and you're never wrong. So you can conclude that you somehow developed ESP or the plot is beyond shallow. The movie was...worse.
I'm glad that a good vampire series is getting recognition now on tv. I just hope once I get into the books it doesn't disappoint, it shouldn't though. I doubt it will.
Yeah I was looking at some last night and almost went into cardiac arrest at some of the prices. There was a lovely 1765 2 volume set of Don Quioxte that I would have loved to get but I'll have to wait till pay day to spend around $65-80 for them. Others I liked were well above my price range, like $400 - 1000. I'll look around some more, there were also some nice non-collectable leatherbond books that I liked as well for far cheaper so I'll just mull it over for a bit.
Wow the guitars sound wonderful and at that price I would hope so. LOL read and get busy, quite the combination. My boyfriend reads it just has to be something well "geeky" to get his attention, but he likes the fact that I read alot I've notice (except for the amount of money and the eventual moving pains). I really need to go get those books, perhaps next time I go to the store I'll get atleast the first two and see if if I like them enough to move on. But the reviews are nearly always good for that series
I could always do that, now that I have some money coming in I might be able too. I buy too many books a month as it is, so maybe it'll help cut back on some. I love getting books as gifts, they are so much better then other thing. I can't really Ive them because I don't really know anyone who reads...
It sounds like it was a lovely room. I've always wanted really nicely leather bound copies of books but it seems I was born into the wrong time period. Very rarely can you find a nice copy like that and then when you do it puts a dent or a hole in your wallet. I've always wanted a true book collection but I would have to find a way to get a major amount of cash.
@Joy: I wish we could, it would be amazing. My boyfriend has promised me a room for just the same as well when we get a bigger place. Then one day the lottery that I don't play will be mine and I'll have a wonderful home and my own library.
@Cary: I wish they did build homes the same way,the architecture of the older homes is magnificent. We have quite a few around here that I would love to own, but buildings of that nature come at a price and it's a high one.
