Hey everyone should read what they like. I think you would like Sookie Stackhouse way better than Twilight. It is easilly the best of the Romance vampire books. I like the old stories like Carmilla, and Dracula, and the Gothic Vampire short stories. Because I grew up on vampires being magic, occult, and ultimately evil. Scientific explanations for them and love stories just kind of kill it for me in most cases. Both Carmilla and Dracula are love stories. But they are much more subtle and the Romance is not the main theme of the book. A vampire that cant dematerialize, and shape shift. What kind of vampire is that? Vampires that play baseball. That totally shot it down for me,LOL.
Yeah Evrah is real cool and the little blue robed people. Madam Truska and Hans Hands, and I just got to the part where Reggie Veggie got his arms bitten of by the wolf man,LOL. It is deffinitly a young persons book but very cleverly written. It is in a league of it's own as far as vampire books. I am going to have to read the whole series. :)
Just started reading The Vampires Assistant books. Cirque Du Freak is a interesting even though it is a Y.A. book. The reason is it is not about vampire romance, and being hot. Which tend to be shallow uninteresting books mostly. Sookie Stackhouse being the sole exception. Darrens vampire world with Mr Crepsley is different than any of the other Vampire books. There are lots of interesting characters and magic, action. They are fun to read because they are different from all the other books out there.
Yeah I just got Cirque du Freak The Vampires Assistant. Maybe it will be a good book. The movie looked interesting.
Um I don't know I would say Twilight is for 13 to 14 year old girls. I sure hope no guys like like book, LOL
Trust me everyone does not like the Cullens,LOL. I think Twilight series is such serious boring bullshit. I can't believe they squeezed out another movie from those books. I read Twilight because it was on the New York Times best seller list and was Vampire. It just goes to show the N.Y. Times list doesn't mean shit. I have Cirque du Freak the Vampires Apprentice on order at the library. The movie looks interesting so I thought the book would be too.
Read a Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mystery. That is where TrueBlood comes from. You will dig the books. Read Dead Until Dark the first one. Very fast pased with a whole cast of supernatural characters. Rather like Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series or Angel.
I love Dracula too, and also Carmilla. Both Bram Stoker & Sheridan Le Fanu were from Dublin Ireland. Both stories are true to the Gothic vampire mythose, and way more interesting to me than modern vampire stories. Although I do like Sookie Stackhouse books & Trueblood.
If you read Dracula you will find that he is not cranky at all. He lives in a broken down castle but has far outlived the time of castles. Dracula is set in the 1800's. Castles are long gone and outdated. In Carmilla they live in a Schloss. Which is a fortefied mansion with its own chapel. It is basically a Renissanse house surrounded by moat and drawbridge but there are no walls. If I was a modern vampire I sure wouldn't be living in the suburbs, LOL.
Cary wrote: " I am sure I will be watching the Vampire Diaries because I like everything Vampire, and there's just not much choice. I wish Moonlight would have made it. Vampire Diaries looks a little like Vampi..." I watched some of the Vampire Diaries. I whatch it when I can even though it sucks and Elena should be fuckng Stefans brains out and Stefan shoud be sucking her dry. What a chicken shit 90210 type vamp show. Vampires? Stefan looks like Donnie Osmond. Elena looks OK she just needs to loosen up and cut the goodie two shoes routine. She needs to run a reffer and slam a beer, and then just have some recreational sex. : )
The first Underworld movie freaking rocked. If you noticed Beth from Moonlight was in it. Braum Stokers Dracula is easily the best Vampire movie. But there are some good ones comeing out. From Dusk Till Dawn the Tarantino film, with Clooney,Taranteno, Harvey Kitel, and Chech Marin just kicked ass. I would like to see Cirque de Freak "The Vampires Apprentice. It looks interesting and it is a book you can also read. I just love the cute little monkey girl with her tail,LOL. A little juvenille but as long as the appentice does Monkey girl I will be good with it. There is another interesting vamp film. http://www.daybreakersmovie.com/ This is a real jamin film. However I am tired of movies that try to depict vampires in a scientific context. To me Vampires are Occult, Magic, and AntiChrist. So these new movies with nice vampires or logical reasons why people are vampires are lame. There is just an explosion of vampire movies, books, and TV now days. But it is not like the old Gothic Vampire. There is one book out there that actually has Vegan Vampires. What is the fucking point. Whoever wrote that book should be crucified. With all the new vampire movies coming out they are bound to put out a couple good ones. I love the classic old vampire tales, and I get real miffed when I see them screwed with by the Cullens, Vampire Diaries"what were they thinking?" Damon is the only redeming thing in Vampire Diaries. I want a vampire who is from the middle ages, has an army of evil gypsies, and wants to murder people, suck their blood and have twisted sex with women, and screw them to death. Now thats my idea of a hot vampire. I can feel it coming. The real deal sensual, heartless, magic. Why has Stefan not got all over Elena and just rapped her ass off and drained her and turned her. Man these Vampire storis are so pussy. I'ts goig to be a long wait for TrueBlood. : )
Well that's interesting however you know what would be a gazzillion times better, and would have made the Stoker family allot more money? To have taken Braum's original hand written notes ans sketches and published them in a book for people to read. Dracula was never meant to be a sequal story. Dracula died. His throat was cut with an Afghan kukuri knife and he was stabbed to the heart with a Bowie Knife by the Texan Quincy. Then Dracula was beheaded and burned. How you gonna ressurect that, LOL. It may be a fun book to read because I like anything classic vampire. But as I said. I would rather read Braums old notes myself, and I find it rather curious that they have never been published before. : )
How very intresting. However most people who try to emmulate their father suck. Look at Bob Dylans son or Julian Lennon, Arlo Guthrie. They all tried to be guitar players and song writers like their fathers and where just awful. There is no telling however. I would kinda scim through it before I bought it. I have read other books that are take offs on Dracula. One was by a woman and the whole story was told from Minas perspective. Lord god almighty it was lame. Dracula is just plain unique. There is not one piece of dialogue between characters. It is all a series of correspondences. Letters, diary entries, news paper articles, and messages. There is no dialogue FTF in the whole book. : )
LOL Braum Stoker would have to be a Vampire himself to write another sequal to Dracula. He published Dracula circa 1897. He has been dead about 100 years or more. But yeah Dracula is freaking the best. I just reread it for the 10th time. I love the part where he is holding Jonathan prisoner in the Castle. Now read Carmilla it was writtin in 1877, and inspired Dracula allot. Just type in Carmilla on your browzer. Its free on line. Sheridan LeFanu is great. Both writers are from Dublin and both read Augutine Calmnets Phantom World, and the Magia Posthuma. Varney the Vampire, Resurection of a Vampire is online to and rocks.
Carissa I keep Bearded Dragons. I have a breeder pair of hypo pastels. My male is Prometheus a young sub adult 11" with orange on red/orange markings with lavender side strips. The female is a 10" animal with a cream body overlayed with a rows of pink, lavender, and orange spots across its back. Especially on the head there is a lot of bright orange. The male is from Atomic Dragons & the female from Dachiu. The are not anywhere near breeding age. But they have real potential for just show quality babies. They are rock solid hypo pastel. I thought I would let you know who I was. I am thingking about getting another Cawley Red hypo pastel from Dachiu, and it might be nice to get my female animal from yourself. We should be friends. Way of topic. But Dragons and Vampyres just kinds seem to go together. : ) Check out my facebood picks Cary W Boyd Tulsa, OK 74120
LOL yeah a like that old Medievel, Gothic, Vitctorian, vampire stuff. Just can't beat it. The vampires are evil, sexy, immortal.
The first time I read Dracula I was amazed. I thought it would be just a simple horror story like those Bella Lagosi movies. When I reaized it was classic litterature with a whole lot of depth, plot, and theme put into it I was hooked. Carmilla was the first vampire story I read when I was 14 however that really got me into vampires. Both Braum Stoker and Seridan Le Fanu had read Augustine Calmets Phantom World with its accounts of the vammpires of Romania & Transylvannia. So there is research, and study of the oldest Gothic vampire tradition in the writing of those books. Now in the new Paranormal Romance books. The soure for vampire inspiration. Is not from old books. But from Hollywood films. :)
Dracula was killed with a Bowie Knife and Ghurka knife in the book. Stabed in the heart, and his throat slit. Then he was beheaded and burned along with his three wives. The flying thing two,and shape shifting. Dracula sould levitate, and fly when he shifted into a bat. He could shift into a wolf as well. In modern some modern vampire stories they have em taking of like superman,LOL. As in the next to last episode of TrueBlood. Just a bit much I think. But I dig it anyway.
Damn straight Dracula is the greatest Vampire story everwritten. I am rather partial to Carmilla myself. But Dracula is my favorite male vampire and Carmilla my favorite female vampire. Ever seen any plays? Like one of the Dracula ones with Frank Longella, or Walter Mathau. Oh its Sunday and Interview With A Vampire is on Cable and Satellite today. Not my favortie. But its Vampire nuff said.
