I'm sticking with my goals for last year. It gave me something to work toward without being a stress or a chore.
1. Read 100 books.
2. Read at least one classic a month.
Yay... I reached 100. Now to go read something long and slow paced- I won't have to finish anytime soon!
98. Chalice
99. The Chronicles of Amber, Volume 1 Nine Princes in Amber/The Guns of Avalon
100. Watermelon
My Favorite out of these three was Chalice. I will have to read more of Robin McKinley's books.
Thanks for the info Marian. I also don't enjoy reading books with profanity. I'm taking "The Help" off my to-read list. There are too many books I will enjoy to spend my time on something I won't!

Galya, good luck! It's really not about numbers, just enjoying the books. I read so much because we don't watch TV. It's my before-bed sedative.

What do you suppose her mother suffered from - depression and anxiety?
"
I don't know much about psychological disorders, but I'm sure she had one, she was a very unhappy woman, and she made her daughter's life lonely and difficult.
November's books...
91. A Wizard of Earthsea
92. The Handmaid's Tale
93. Gregor and the Code of Claw
94. The Tombs of Atuan
95. Blackbird House
96. Molly Fyde and the Parsona Rescue
97. The Remains of the Day

I finally finished this book. I'm with you, Galya, I didn't like Stevens. His self-absorption and unkindness to his dad and Miss Kenton made it impossible for me to sympathize with him.
I'm reading Chalice by Robin McKinley. I'm really enjoyed it. I'm also listening to The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. I'm having a bit of trouble getting into it, but I keep trying.
It looks like the winners were A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, and A Christmas Carol.
I think we should read A Christmas Carol in Dec, then perhaps A Tale of Two Cities for Jan and Great Expectations for Feb. Sound ok everyone?
I really enjoyed our Austen Autumn, and the Steinbeck Summer...
Is anyone interested in doing this for the winter months?
I suggest having an E. B. White Winter.
Any other suggestions?
What I've been reading...
79. Jane Eyre
80. Riddle-Master
81. The Secret School
82. Brave New World
83. Dracula
84. The War of the Worlds
85. Gregor the Overlander
86. Dragonseed
87. Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane
88. Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods
89. Unseen Academicals
90. Gregor and the Marks of Secret
Lots of really good books! I love Terry Pratchett of course, and The Secret School was a pleasant surprise, and I'm loving the Gregor the Overlander series.
Hopefully I will finish my 100- if the holidays don't get too busy.
Emilee, thanks for everything you do for the group! We're glad you put your children first, they truly are most important!
My reading has slowed down a bit the last month or so, but now that I'm all moved in to my new house I should have a bit more reading time.
Another reading update...
71. The Well of Ascension
72. The Moonstone
73. The Martian Chronicles
74. The Grapes of Wrath
75. The Moorchild
76. Sense and Sensibility
77. The Actor and the Housewife A Novel
78. The Hero of Ages
These books were all really good, except for The Actor and the Housewife A Novel which was disappointing because I usually love Shannon Hale's books.
What I've been reading....
64. The Left Hand of Darkness
65. Messenger
66. Setting Limits with Your Strong-Willed Child Eliminating Conflict by Establishing Clear, Firm, and Respectful Boundaries
67. Mistborn The Final Empire (audiobook- but because of technichal difficulties, I did a bit of dead-tree reading, too.)
68. A Short History of Nearly Everything (audiobook)
69. Sweet Thursday
70. The Hunger Games
There were lots of good books in this batch. I especially liked Mistborn and Hunger Games.
