I finished this morning and gave it 5 stars. When I did sit down to read it the pages flew by. I think it was very well written, Capote definitely knows what he's doing.
Jennifer wrote: "Has anybody seen the film adaption of In Cold Blood. I really enjoyed it and don't want to spoil this feeling with seeing a bad movie!"
Jennifer, I have seen "Capote" and it was really good, Hoffman was brilliant and you get more of his story and Harper Lee's story, not like with the book, it's the story of writing the story.
Thanks, Barbara. I also prefer to read the book before seeing the movie, just was a tad scared about this book. Funny isn't it? From what you've said it sounds like a wonderful book so I'm probably worrying about nothing.
Barbara, would you recommend I watch the movie first? I have both and planned on reading the book first but have heard it can be quite a difficult read, do you think things would be clearer to have seen the movie beforehand?
Revolutionary Road most definitely, we watched it on the weekend and it followed the book very closely, nothing changed really just a few bits left out and it really added to the reading of the book I thought. Fantastic movie, fantastic book.
I have Q&A and it says previously published as Slumdog Millionaire so I am hoping they are the same thing. Not sure if there is a book that follows more closely to the movie.
Epee, I've heard that it doesn't really relate to the film much. I watched the film not long ago, loved it, and thought I'd better wait a while to read the book but now I think I can just pick it up whenever I want knowing that it's not word for word the same.
I thought "The Kite Runner" was very well done.
Also agree with "Shawshank", even though the book was a novella it didn't seem to miss anything out and it's very hard to say whether I prefer the book or the movie.
"Marley & Me" was also pretty good, a few bits where you got more of an insight in the book but overall a good adaptation.
"Blindness" indeed was good. I was wondering how they were going to make it appear on screen and must say my expectations weren't very high but they were met and went past them.
I'm with you, KrisT. Also we have to remember the author wrote this book with satire thrown in, so who knows, the moral could also be satirical - the author may be feeling exactly like we do but has chosen to end the story as he has to demonstrate his point.
