Well, Susan, there are some nights when I say "to hell with homework" and read for myself. So, I'm not really disciplined. I mean, I do my papers and projects, but other than that, I am fully prepared for 2 out of my 6 classes on a regular basis because the professor believes in the Socratic method and your grade depends upon it.
Hi, I'm Lori. I know a few of the members from other groups. I'm a college student, majoring in English and history. I, like pretty much everyone on here, love to read, but life gets in the way too often. I'm looking forward to getting in on some good conversations.
I need to read Moby at some point in time too. I bought it and, as an English major, I feel I need to read it to be real.
Harry Potter 5-7. To Kill a Mockingbird. Gone With the Wind. All Quiet on the Western Front. Catch-22. The Things They Carried. Those are all that I remember. I might cry when I finish Anna Karenina, but those will probably be tears of "Yay, I finally finished."
I'm Lori. I'm a 21 year old English major. I'm from Oklahoma (and I can't wait to get out of here). I love reading. That was why I became an English major, which was a bad idea. I keep having to read books because of the author, rather than the actual merit of the book and it drives me insane. I generally avoid doing my homework so I can read for me because I think I get more out of reading something I like than whatever the professor assigns. I do feel a little guilty, but that also makes the reading all the more precious. I carry big purses with me because I always bring a book along, no matter where I'm going.
I don't think I could pick a favorite genre or author. But I love Gone With the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, Catch-22, and Pride and Prejudice. One of the books I'm currently reading (I'm reading 7) is Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and I really like it, so it might be a favorite someday.
And that's enough for now.
Emilee, Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting more involved in my GoodReads groups and getting some good reading done.
