It is hit or miss with Jodi Picoult. I liked Plain Truth, Perfect Match and My Sister's Keeper but couldn't finish The Pact and I heard The Tenth Circle finishes with some kind of riddle that you have solve to know the ending.
Hey Leah. You have great taste in books! Running with Scissors is awesome- Augusten Burroughs is a fantastic writer.
Emilee- I work in the court system and I was quietly reading Marley in the back of a courtroom when I hit a particularly poignant spot...tears running down my face. :) Classy! Of course, people always ask what you are reading and when they see Marley's happy face on the front, they just don't understand how it can be upsetting. It takes a dog owner/lover to fully appreciate Marley.
John Irving and Phillipa Gregory. I also love Wally Lamb (who has a new release coming out in November!)
Silver- I just saw your post from several months ago re: book clubs. I feel the same way. I just "joined" a book club at work and they picked an awful book- I got to page 50 and stopped.
Thanks Emilee. I just stumbled onto this website a few weeks ago. I don't know too many people in my day to day life who enjoy reading as much as I do so this is exciting.
There are actually three versions of Marley and Me.
The movie stars Jennifer Aniston who I think will be wonderful.
Marley and Me is what I call "my freezer book"(a reference to an episode of Friends). It made me so sad, I had to put it away because I didn't want the inevitable to happen. As a side note, I met John Grogan at a book signing a couple years ago and he is awesome. Definitely worth a second read.
