Hrrrrrrrm I don't know. All the books I plan to read lately I don't get to! Oh well...Here's one I've already read by an author I really like and would recommend:
The Glass Palace by Amitav Ghosh

Not that I a..."Vote for what you want. It'll be great to get some different opinions on it anyway. It really is very beautifully written.
Haha I was disappointed in The Tale of Two Cities, it wasn't like the others of his I read. Very beautifully written though.
Haha I know - I've never been attracted to reading Oliver Twist for that reason. The story itself never really interested me either so I don't see what the whole fascination is either.Funny thing is, I recently tried reading The Tale of Two Cities which started out so promising for me - but I hated - and there it is winning first place!
I've put a poll up listing as many books as I could find on GR... most of his major novels I believe. Please shout out if I have left any off!
Haha ok looks like we're doing a Dickens then. How do you all usually decide which ones you'll be doing each month?Shall I put a list of all his books in a poll and we take the top 3 most voted for?
However, it doesn't make it at all clear this book's going to be a trilogy and had I not been warned I'd probably have been royally pissed off and let down by the ending. However - now I'm just really really excited for the next one!
Actually, I really liked the ending. It does leave you hanging but that's no bad thing. I can't wait for the next one now - but I bet he'll be taking his damned time over it!
I have about 100 pages left of Sea of Poppies and I'm dreading the end! And I'm glad I know not to expect a more wrapped up ending. I'm really concerned for Neel, I want to know what his outcome is... And Amitav Ghosh takes for bloody ever with writing books so who knows when the second will come out. According for him he's very happy writing this series and it could go on forever as far as he's concerned. Well bugger him, I want it now! I do hope it won't take him another 4 years like it took this one to write. Maybe 2 years I could manage but even that is depressing in itself.
Oh blast I haven't had to wait for books in a series since HP. I kinda like the anticipation but at the same time I want to get on and find out what happens.
If you go to the polls section you can vote there.http://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/25541...
it's poll # 18 because I can't make it a 'featured' poll.
Emilee's been really busy, as has Kandice I think. But I've just realised as I've completely forgotten (I can barely remember polls for my own groups!) that I can put one up. There you go, go and vote!
The Hansel and gretel one also sounds good. I'd vote for it too if my library had it... bah. I might see if I can ILL it one day...
Aw thanks for the offer Fiona! But I think I should read the one I have and see if I like the author. I may come back to you on that though! ;)

Haven't read Out, but want to. I didn't know which one to get when choosing - Out or Grotesque. Evidently Out is supposed to be better... oh well.
