668 Halley Came to Jackson by Mary Chapin Carpenter. I do this book with my first grade music classes before their trip to the planetarium, and then we improv. comet dances as a follow up to the song. The music and illustrations and beautiful and children are excited to discover that the woman at the end was the baby at the beginning.

I also love Marsupial Sue and The Runaway Pancake, both written and performed by John Lithgow. I also mentioned in another topic that the book Big Pumpkin has a great recording to it, but when I was looking to replace my tape which I recorded from a friend I discovered that if you buy it on Amazon (only used available) it costs between $175 to $250 (no, I didn't forget the decimal points!) On Ebay the CD is now bidding at $41 which seems like a steal. :) My tape needs to last another 20 or so years!!!!

668 Janine,
I have some Big Pumpkin recording info. if you are interested in getting a copy. I'm not sure if you can, but is there a way for you to privately send me your e-mail through Good Reads (if you want to of course!) and I can pass the info. onto you!?

668 Janine,
It's funny that you ask this, because after school today I was thinking how I'd like to replace my tape (which I recorded from a friend) with an original recording and found it on Amazon. Here is the link:

Pretty pricey eh? Guess that tape better last.

668 I LOVE Rattlebone Rock and Big Pumpkin! I also like The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, adn Ten Timid Ghosts.
Oh, with Big Pumpkin, you HAVE to have the recording. It has great music and the voices are a lot of fun for the kids to imitate.
