i've been trying to remember which book this took place. hadn't read the series in over a year so started the first book again. lo and behold i re-discovered the event in the first book (master and commander) where the sophie is being chased by the huge french frigate in the mediteranean. not the cacafuego...the other one who's name i don't know how to pronounce.

654 then again, if cost is no object (with me it is...) you can rent them online. if at all possible get the ones narrated by patrick tull.

654 by the way,
i would try the local library if you want to listen to them. you might want to reserve in advance and maybe use the inter-library lending system to make sure you get them in order and not miss any.

654 yes, i believe some of the books are read by a man named bryan brown (?) not the australian actor. the ones i love are read by patrick tull. i think they are great. the others are ok...still fun to listen to. and i like to sit down to read them all starting with #1 about once a year.

hey there, this passage always made me smile too but i do have to make a correction. it was stephen who originated the pun about the dog-watch. jack was so taken by it he felt he had to repeat it often when having his officers to the cabin for a meal.
