6534 The same to you, Ilyn.

Here's to the bright New Year
And a fond farewell to the old;
Here's to the things that are yet to come
And to the memories that we hold.

Thank you, Ilyn.
The same to you and to all!

Best wishes,

6534 It sounds as if fireworks are getting better and better!
Imagine... a smiley face in the sky! :)
6534 Hi Lucille. I love fire crackers. Are yours colorful too or do they only make noise?

I'm trying to think if I ever hear fire crackers on New Years here in the USA. I'll have to pay attention. It hasn't been a strong tradition here, as far as I know.

Now I remember that on TV at midnight on New Year's Eve, we can watch New Years celebrations all around the world. There are plenty of beautiful fireworks on the screen.

The big time for fireworks here in the USA is Independence Day, July 4.
6534 Stopping by to wish a Merry Christmas to all!

Best wishes,
Joy
6534 Hi Lucille,
We have our creche up to remind us of that story of the Christchild.

I love the lights of the holidays. I wouldn't mind at all if they started in September.

The kids will all be here for Christmas. They stay overnight. We'll be eleven people altogether including the 4 grandchildren. I still have a lot to do to get ready.

Happy holidays to you, Lucille! What will you be doing?
6534 Just thought I'd drop by and say hi.

I'm keeping busy with so many things, lots of irons in the fire! (g)

I guess we're all very busy, especially at this time of year.
6534 Happy Thanksgiving to you, Ilyn! Yes, the turkey smells so delicious... and the stuffing too. I usually stuff myself with too much stuffing. "He who stuffeth, puffeth." :)
6534 Yes, Jackie, I'm looking forward to seeing newly upholstered seats in our boat. I can imagine the satisfaction you get from your work.

I've got my dining room table all ready for Thanksgiving. I, too, enjoy admiring how everything looks. Too bad we have to mess it up with food and dirty dishes. (lol)

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
6534 Yes, that's the name, Jackie. I called him and he told us his location, but my husband wasn't ready to get the seats upholstered because the boat was already put away in the garage and winterized. He didn't want to disturb it. Maybe next spring when he takes the boat out and readies it for the water, we'll think about getting the seats done. I hope so. I hope I can find the directions he gave me. I'll have to look for his phone number again.
6534 Jackie, you and my son would have a lot to talk about. He has a 35' steel sailboat which he's always working on. He keeps it on the Hudson River across from NYC. He once built his own dinghy from scratch. He was born in 1965. So he's almost your age.

Our own boat needs its seats re-upholstered. It's a 1986 19' Glastron with a small cabin. They don't make many 19 footers with cabins these days. So I want to keep the boat. When I was at Halls, someone recommended a place in Lake George which does that sort of work. But my husband keeps postponing the upholstering. So we just cover the seats with terry cloth covers. Not too fancy!
6534 Lucille - Yes, we've found so much tranquillity on and around Lake George. Out on the islands we feel so remote from the rush of civilization. Of course, when it rains and the wind is cold, it loses a lot of its charm. We used to play cards in the screen tent on rainy days when we were camping. We have some good memories.

I'm sure you have many lovely spots in the Philippines. At least you don't have to deal with the snow and ice we're expecting tonight in Glens Falls, NY. Keep dreaming but enjoy what you have too. At least you've been to Turkey. I don't fly. So I haven't been across the ocean, except for taking a cruise ship to Bermuda in 1994.
6534 Lucille, I meant to tell you that our son went to the Philippines several years ago. His friend married a very sweet girl from the Philippines. Our son brought back some souvenirs. One was a miniature Philippine taxi, very colorful.
6534 Jackie,
I've been meaning to ask you what you know about that boat in Hall's parking lot. Below is a link to the photo of it: ===>

The boat has such a pretty shape.
6534 Jackie, I'll look for you and Juneau when I walk along Beach Road. I don't think I know Howard. You're lucky to be so near Beach Road. It's one of my favorite places.

You've probably already seen my photos of Million Dollar Beach. But just in case you haven't, here's the link: ===>

Also, below is a link to pics I took of scenes around Beach Road in Lake George Village:

It's hard to resist taking pictures with such beautiful scenery all around.
6534 Yes, Lucille, autumn has come and gone... or at least it's on its way out. Most of the leaves are down now. We have one month to wait until it officially becomes winter.

Below is a link to more autumn photos on Lake George: ===>

Autumn is a gorgeous time of year in the New England states of northeastern U.S.

6534 Thank you both, Ilyn and Debra, for the wishes. I wish the same to you.

6534 Debra, it's so great to meet another mystery writer who is a member of Sisters in Crime, etc. I've got a pile of mystery books waiting to be read. But first I have to finish plowing through _Gilead_. :-(

If you're wondering about _Gilead_, see the following postings:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6527...

and

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7760...

Someone said "this book [Gilead:]is on the goodreads all-time "unpopular" list." That was at:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9.pe...
(The link is under the book's icon under a discussion called "people".)

But I'm reading it as part of a group and I'm determined to finish it in order to enjoy the group discussion in December.

6534 Hi Jackie - I'm so glad you enjoyed my pics.

I haven't read The Last of the Mohicans, but I've read a lot about it. We visited Cooper's Caves in South Glens Falls last summer. Have you been there? If not, you must go and feel the history.

As for local Lake George history, let me know what you find out about Sabbath Day Point. We have a vacation house there.

I buy the Lake George books for my husband who loves the area and reads about it, since he enjoys non-fiction. I'd like to meet your foreman's brother. I'll bet we could all have fun talking while sitting on a bench on Beach Road looking at the lake. (g) My favorite place! (grin)

6534 We're having the kids over for the whole weekend beginning Thursday. It's our usual Thanksgiving family get-together. We'll be 11 people: the two of us, four sons, one daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.

Oh, I forgot to mention the dogs. There will be 3 dogs: One is our own Maltese dog, Romeo. The two others belong to two of our sons. The dogs' names are Alice and Boogaloo, Boogie for short.
