Mixed feelings....wasn't looking forward to it.....but teacher in small town.....usually some customers. Can't understand where they all went. None came down the street at all. Weather was fine and mild....neighbours said they had none either. I really think that an American tradition that was foisted on us by the retail sector, has had its brief burst of novelty and is now on the wane.
Hallobeen and gone here.....I had the treats in a bowl on the hallstand....not one knock on the door! I'll have to eat it all myself now.
Apparently there was a frontrunner but I can't remember who. I had heard he was gracious in defeat.....
OK.....so he had no choice....but the pressure will be on him now to earn it. And the Nobel Committee need a slap on the hand!
Yes. I am an Obama fan....but I think this award is definitely premature and I am surprised he accepted it. Feet of clay after all? The Obama of (increasing) legend would not have accepted it.
I tried to read it to my class 2 years ago....I appreciated some of it, but I found it hard going in places and the kids did not enjoy it at all. Maybe it is just one of those books that does not translate well into 'read-aloud' territory....there are some!
From a foreign point of view, I am glad it went to a country that has never hosted before....I sometimes think that the US has had more than their fair share!
Funny that.....spring down-under has me in the same mood! I actually emptied ALL my bookcases, dusted, and re-organised!! Have fun playing with the threads!
