Cool, thanks. I hope I'm wrong about it going out of print, this really is a great book. But, as mentioned above, this book has been on Hinojosa's sylabus for over a decade, so it shouldn't be too hard to find at HPB's or the Co-Op.
I can't get it into my bookstore. We have a copy in the store, but that'll be it. Hinojosa's literature of the SW class reads the book, so there are a lot of copies floating around, but according to my vendors, UT Press isn't making any more. I will say that this book has been dancing this dance for quite a while. This may, I hope, be me being over pessimistic.
"The Gay Place", although hard to find, and about to be out of print, is the best book about Austin's political culture. Funny, sexy, literary, and a little loopy, the book captures what it feels like to be blue, while being surrounded by red.
