Got this directly from UT Press Marketing Director David Hamrick regarding The Gay Place:
"To my knowledge Brammer will remain in print. We do license the rights but i'm unaware of any problems on that front. Sales are modest but it's too important a book to let it go. We've just reprinted a three year supply."
From what I've been able to gather, UT Press plans on keeping The Gay Place in print for the foreseeable future.Have you tried getting it directly from the press?
Which store is that?
I've emailed my contacts at UT Press. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure out what is going on. As soon as I uncover anything, I'll pass it along.
The Gay Place is available in most new and used book stores in Austin. I really doubt that the University of Texas Press has any plans of taking it out of print any time soon. On top of that, the book is required reading for several UT classes.
Do you have access to info about the book's future that the rest of us don't?
My favorite is Bradley Denton's Lunatics. Perfectly captured the divergent kooky elements that make Austin unique.
