I think one thing you can do now, is write reviews for the books you have read on goodreads. i read the reviews other people write when deciding if i want to read a book. You can include information regarding the language and content in your review.
I don't know of any rating system other than children's and young adult's books. you might want to check with your local librarian for some good suggestions.
Speaking of shelves there are lots of duplicate shelf entries, like nonfiction and non-fiction. Graphic Novels seems to have the same problem as Audiobooks. In fact the whole first page of popular shelves is mostly the same headings repeated in two or three different ways. Maybe some high powered user could go in and combine obvious duplicate common shelf titles, starting with Audiobook of course.
I checked the librarians group and couldn't find a discussion on this topic.
I am a newish librarian and this seemed like a good place for the quesiton. I just edited info for the audiobook of Last Child in the Woods based on the copy i got from the library. It has 10 discs so i put that as the number of pages. I think this will make it easy to track progress through the book.
But Audible books are trickier... should there be a seperate edition for the Audible version? I have been using the CD edition to rate and review my audible books so far.
Grumpus i await your input.
Narrator: Fisher Stevens
He read A Dirty Job: A Novel by Christopher Moore and I am currently listening to to Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal also narrated by him
I like the way he reads.
I really like Jim Dale, George Guidall (American Gods), Lenny Henry (Anansi Boys), William Roberts (Walk in the Woods), Tony Robinson (Tiffany Aching books by Terry Pratchett) and Bill Bryson, Neil Gaiman and Thomas Harris reading their own works.
Dune and the Wheel of Time series both have nice casts.
My husband and I love Audiobooks, but only if the reader is good. Audible.com is nice since you can preview the reader before you buy. i am going to give my husband the list of good readers to look for.
