Thanks, Dacia. I just downloaded The Host! :-) And I agree with you about the narration--Kristin Stewart's acting in the movie can't hold a candle to Ilyana Kadushin's narration!

Really? I recently listened to all four of the Twilight series audiobooks and thought that Ilyana Kadushin's narration was great (even if the books weren't)! She used different voices and inflections for all of the characters and I thought she was well suited as the narrator/Bella.

596 Recently finished Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. I have really enjoyed Ilyana Kadushin's reading of all of the Twilight series books.

I also listened to Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, read by the author. Hilarious!

596 I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I just finished listening to Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, narrated by Ilyana Kadushin. *blush* The narrator does a great job and is very believable as Bella. Guess who's on the waiting list for the audio book of New Moon...:-)

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, narrated by Jim Dale is fantastic!

596 Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, read by the author. Very funny!

596 If you enjoy mysteries/thrillers, I have really enjoyed the Special Agent Pendergast books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Some of them are read by Scott Brick, and others are read by Rene Auberjonois. Their most recent book just came out last month (Cemetery Dance) and I'm starting the audiobook on my way home today. Highly recommended!

596 Just finishing up Blasphemy by Douglas Preston--I have about a half hour left to go! Then I've got Cemetery Dance by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child ready after that.

*adds The Hunger Games to my list* Thanks, Julie!

I just finished listening to that on your recommendation, and it was terrific! The ensemble cast really brought the book to life.

596 I recently listened to Stephen King's Just After Sunset. There is a short story called "A Very Tight Place" where one of of the characters says "The Mother%$%^er" about 100 times. Seriously. After the first 20 times or so I should have been desensitized to it, but hearing it so many times on an audiobook, I began to almost wince every time I heard it.

596 I'm fairly new to audiobooks--I started listening to them probably about 6 months ago, but since then listen to at least one a week (I have a LOOONG commute).

So far, my hands-down favorite narrator is Scott Brick. I also really like Neil Gaiman reading his own works(Stardust, Coraline, The Graveyard Book), George Guidall (American Gods), Lenny Henry (Anansi Boys). I was also really impressed with Campbell Scott (Cell by Stephen King) and Mare Winningham (Lisey's Story by Stephen King).

596 I enjoy Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta books. But then I listened to my first Scarpetta audiobook (The Body Farm), as read by C.J. Critt. With apologies to Ms. Critt--I found her voice and over the top dramatics to be really annoying! I won't listen to another audiobook that she is narrating.

596 Right now I'm listening to Monday Mourning by Kathy Reichs.

Just finished listening to The Likeness by Tana French, read by Heather O'Neill. The story takes place in Ireland, and Heather O'Neill did an excellent job conveying the nuances of different Irish accents. If you like the suspense genre, I think you'll like it a lot!

596 My local library and the consortium of libraries in my area (Chicago suburbs) has a huge selection of audio books, which is lucky for me because I have a long commute. I find that listening in the car really calms me down and I don't even mind getting stuck in traffic! Much.
