I am enjoying the L.A. Meyer series Bloody Jack. Listening has been great because the reader can do many accents! Also, the Brian Jacques books are wonderful for the same reason. Plus, he uses a full cast and the music and singing are wonderful. The jnet Evanovich books are very fun to listen to as are the Helen Fielding books.
And if you like Irish books, Maeve BInchy books are wonderful. She uses the same reader.
the scariest darn book I EVER listened to is Intensity by Dean Koontz. I listened to it when I was walking with my husband and scared him by screaming. This is a truly horrifying psychological thriller that is also gross at times. You will never look at an RV in the same way. I promise! This book gave me the shivers for a solid year!
I love the reading of the Redwall series by the author Brian Jacques(who is a professional storyteller) and a cast of people.
I second the Sissy Spacek reading of To Kill A Mockingbird zas wonderful.
I am going to get the Peter Pan series on audio and i am glad to know who narrates them.
I just started getting Robert Heinlein books on audio. I am pleased to find them after all this time. I hope the readers live up to the books. I also have some of the Oz books on audio. They are fun to hear.Does anyone know about the plans to put older Scifans on audio ? For example, any of Sherri Teppers novels or Elizabeth Scarborough or Sharon Shinn's work?
No one has mentioned the Redwall series of books by Brian Jacques. Read by the author who is a professional storyteller and a full cast, these books have the best singing and music in a series I have ever heard. These books come alive in a way that they did not on the page for me.
I agree that Barbara Rosenblatt is great. I have heard her read several books. I wish there was a data base of books specific readers have read.
I also just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns on audio. The reader made the book much more understandable to me. I agree with Beth and Rosalie as well.
I am getting ready to listen to the new Philippa Gregory book today. It is called The Other Queen. I will report back!
Just finished listening to Brian Jacques book High Rhulain . This is another Redwall book. These are narrated by the author and a cast of people. They aare wonderful. The Music and singing are especially good. Now listening to Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder. Also just discovered Overdrive! How did i miss this!?
