59391 I'm finished with The Third Fate! I finished this book last night! What a story! Cael and Paige make one exciting and wonderful hero/heroine couple. An ancient vampire and half-blood vampire/druid priestess make a very powerful force! I very much would love to see a sequel to this tale! I can't wait to write my full review! Nadja was able to make a vampire novel that stood out in my opinion--I just love the little Fates and their power!

The flow of the books is nice and smooth! Moves right along and advances the plot. And here and there are bits of "The Fates" - little children-like beings that determine and influence futures. It sort of reminds me like the Greek Gods in the original Clash of the Titans - Where they are looking at a miniature representation of what's going on down at Earth and they can reach down change things, changing the destiny and fate of people (I think Zeus changed the fate of Heracles in that movie)

Anyhow...the Fates aspect of this tale makes it stand out from other vamp novels. I love the fact that there is this "force" out there that can manipulate the fates of super-natural beings.

Plus..the heroine, Paige, is a hottie librarian. (Yeah Cael is hot to with his accent and all) But a sexy librarian..who is also half-vampire... mmmmm! LOL.

I just wish I had more time to read..lately, with starting a new job and adjusting to a new schedule, my reading time (and writing) has suffered a little bit!

I am enjoying The Third Fate and I am also going to review it on my blog when I am done! (Yeah- I like it that much!)

59391 Cael has discovered there is druid magic enchantments shield Paige from knowledge of her true self. Cael is concerned for her safety and is growing increasingly possessive of her. He wants her to drink of him when she goes through the Awakening, and only him. Yet in the council, the ancient vampires have felt the the presence of a new vampire approaching the awakening...the tension is building.....

I can't wait to read the next chapter. And to see what the Fates have in store for these pawns in their games!

59391 Cael Maccinnis is one hell of an ancient vampire. I love the way he pays nighttime visits to Paige. It's very sensual how he entrances her, suckling on her life blood, satisfying both the hunger of feeding and desire while she is still unaware of him being more than a dream. I am wondering how he begins to bring her into awareness of him in her conscious state. By then I bet she will become addicted to him.

I am enjoying this tale a lot!

59391 I'm finished with Mockingjay: What an exciting and heart wrenching conclusion to this wonderful series. I am filled with emotion for Katniss, Peeta and Gale. An awesome tale and fitting conclusion to the Hunger Games Saga. This series will go into my all-time favorites list, and I'm sure will be re-read by me time and time again when I want to re-visit the friendships I feel toward these characters. Thank you Suzanne Collins! Simply amazing.

Spoilers below...I'll add some space so if you do not want to know how it ends, stop reading this post now! :P

Well- I was amazed at the turn of events with District 13 actually existing and how much of a dictatorship it appeared with Coin at the helm. However I also loved the development of the Mockingjay icon of Katniss.

The treatment of Peeta by the capitol made my guts turn. I felt he had an unconditional love for Katniss and I was truly disgusted when they "hijacked" him and how he acted because of that when we was rescued and returned to 13.

I loved the buildup of the rebellion and their advance, and I was almost happy about the wedge between Katniss and Gale. This book made me not like Gale as much as I did in the first two books. They all change, but his change to me is more in the wrong direction, almost becoming similar to Coin and even possibly a ruthless edge like Snow.

The mass loss of life and the deaths of many of Katniss's squad was also distressful. It added to the story plot, but to have so much death around Katniss made me feel that she would be mentally scared for life with no hope of repairing the damage done to her.

The death of Prim actually brought a tear to my eye. I love when a book can flood your emotions. The fact that it was brought about (possibly, they dont say for sure) by the bomb design of Beetee and Gale, and at the order of Coin is so heart-wrenching. I mean Katniss sacrificing herself at the reaping to save Prim is what set off the series of events for the entire series. To have Prim die was like loosing a sister. I knew right then that Katniss and Gale could never be together. And I actually felt sorry for Gale even though I grew to dislike him from the events of in this book.

The saving grace for me, where I was not so much feeling betrayed by the author was when, in the end, Katniss and Peeta are finally together in mutual love. Again, another tear down my cheek at this moment. Right through to the epilogue, where they have children, something I though Katniss would never do- and with Peeta still having moments of struggle with the mind hijacking.

This was an Epic series in my opinion and I have such an attachment for the entire Sage. I was sad when I turned the last page Mockingjay because there was nothing left to read. But, as I mentioned above, this will go into my all-time favorite list, and be re-read again and again when I want to visit my old friends, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.

59391 Hello everyone! Sorry I've been offline for about the past month! Crazy stuff in real life - but I am getting back on track and back on goodreads more regularly! I'm going to update my reading selections for this month and close stuff from the past 30 days or so. Most of my time has been devoted to getting back into the workforce after getting laid-off on April 2nd. I am still looking and have several prospects working for me right now and I feel positive I'll be back in the 9-5 in routine soon!

I'm looking forward to reading more books, leading more discussions and writing more reviews! See you around goodreads! Feel free to email me any of your suggested reads too - any genre.

:-)

Yours Truly,
Nick

59391 I have not picked it up in a week or two - it's been so crazy around my household! I am loving this one though. I am not so happy with Coin either, but in my mind I am thinking; The end justifies the means. If Coin is going to lead them to topple the Capitol- she must maintain a strong hold on all those who have hope, else they are doomed. That is my take on it so far. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
59391 Whoops! I have been so busy I have not had much reading time these past two weeks or so, so I will adjust the reading month for this one to keep it open longer than the end of April!

59391 Candles, Wine and a Book

http://candleswineandabook.wordpress....

It's a fairly new blog I've created to host my book reviews.

A little about me and the blog to make you want to click on the link above! :=D

Nick loves about anything fantastical, otherworldly, bizarre and downright amazing and super bad ass! He loves writing lore, fantasy, paranormal, ethereal, romantic, erotic and dark fiction. He is also an active tweep, loves blogging. He is a lover of tattoos. Reading is one of his great joys and he has discovered the thrill in giving and receiving mutual feedback to other authors by reviewing and critiquing each others work.

Most of Nick’s reviews are short and sweet- but influence from his online friends have him making plans to up the word count and content in future reviews! Unless of course, it can be done in a single line. Now and then he will come across a work that can actually be summed up in one statement! If so, they will be prefixed: “1 line review” otherwise, the posts will be prefixed: “Review: [Title]”

If you want to request a review from Nick for your book, please feel free to do so using the “Request a review” link at the top of each page on the blog. My original reviews will be done online at goodreads, syndicated to the blog and I can also re-post it to any other site you request, just ask!

59391 I have been burning the candlestick at both ends, drinking lots of wine and turning pages like crazy over the past few weeks! I've discovered YA fiction by reading Bone Dressing (Bone Dressing, #1) by Michelle I. Brooks, The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins, and Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins.

On the romance front, I am read this sweet paranormal romance Demonic Desires by Mandy M. Roth and currently on to my first pirate-themed romance with Jennifer Bray-Weber's new release, A Kiss in the Wind (Romancing the Pirate #2) by Jennifer Bray-Weber

I am also in the middle of writing reviews of each! When they are done you can check them out here: http://candleswineandabook.wordpress.com

59391 I was not happy with the ending of the series. I thought it was a big disappointment. I also was not happy how they had cancelled Caprica and had to rush to tie loose ends. Word has it there is another series coming out that goes between Caprica and BSG, so I am hoping that comes to pass.

There is also a movie BSG: Razor - It re-tells some of the story but from the Cylon's point of view. If you didn't catch it, you should. It fills in a lot.

I fell in love with Starbuck. At first I was very put off, with expectations of the original series, but then I grew to really enjoy the role and Katee Sackhoff is just such a badass gruff hottie.

To be honest, when I first saw the series air, I watched a little bit and was completely put off by the sex stuff in the series, being a hard core Sci-fi fan and not so much used to having cylons run around naked and all.. that's when I wrote it off, but later bought all of the seasons to give it another chance. Glad I did it turns out I like Space Soap-opera's which is truly what I believe this is. There is so much more to that series than the spaceships and lasers and all that jazz. There is a real human connection, relationships, romance, suspense, all tied together in the sci-fi psuedo-realistic wrapper. It's a great series overall, 5 stars in my book and I highly recommend it to anyone.
