Yeah, that happened to me too but I thought it was just me so I didn't say anything.... lol
I just went in through another way....
Good to know I'm not as computer illiterate as I thought!
I will, I'm going to search you now. I thought I saw your page but I wasn't sure because it wasn't the same pic. Maybe it wasn't your page after all but I guess I'll see when I get there.
I just linked FB and GR too and you're right. I like that my FB friends can see what I'm reading and all that but for some reason I can't really update from there and that was my main purpose for doing it. I linked PBS too which is pretty cool. They actually have a BM group and a PBS group and app there too.
I'm going to check it out now - I'm hoping to see some I want AND hoping I don't! lol Slowly but surely running out of room!
Hey, do you have a FaceBook page Suzanne?
There is a way but I'm not sure I can actually tell you- I will try though! :)
If you go to any books page, like this one-
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/64528...
right underneath the description you'll see a very light gray 'find at' and then some links should be there. GR uses default links, I think amazon and a few others but you can change that. I use BookMooch, paperbackswap and amazon myself. Now I just have to remember how to change it and let you know.
Okay- right after those links there is a link you can click on in (I think) dark green that says 'more options'. If you click on that it'll take you to a page where on the right side you'll see an area that says 'find this book at:' and then across from that you'll see 'customize order'- click on that and you'll be where you need to be. On the right side of this new page there is a list of all the sites you can use and a link that can 'add' them. And on the left side you can put them in whatever order you want them to be at.
I hope this helps- I hope this is what you wanted. I use the feature all the time and it comes in handy a lot. There is probably an easier way to get to where I told you to go- possibly through settings or something but this was the way I remembered and found. If you need any more help let me know. :)

I do give some books to people with RCs but I am picky. I once had a request for a book and the RC was so long that I had to scroll down to read all of it. I am not going to send a book to ..."
I 100% agree with Arica- couldn't have said it better myself. I refuse those conditions all the time.(I got that person, there could only be one, with the loooooong notes too! LOL)
What I do is search the book and the put it on my reminder list Jenn. Then you can see how many copies there are in the system and yours is last because you just then did it. If there are 865 copies of Beach Road I won't keep it- no reason to but if there are 22 then it's a go.
I don't have a hard time at all there- I'm sending 17 packages tomorrow and I have over 30 credits saved from this month alone. Maybe I've been lucky.
I haven't seen anything worthwhile mooching on BM in months now. I'm just waiting for my pending page to clear up and I'll most likely be done with it there.
I wonder what's going on with the post? LOL You actually can't mark it lost for another 4 weeks, give or take. Within the same country it's six weeks and overseas mooches we have to wait four months. That just went up from four weeks and three months respectively. I've never had to wait over three months yet for an overseas package, or six weeks for a same country package but I can understand them doing that.
There is some satisfaction- I can't wait to start doing it again myself. I did it the whole time I've been a member until recently and just between us, I still would if someone asked. (I have a hard time saying no!.....LOL)
We only have the air mail option here but if we did still have the surface mail option I'm sure so many people would also send overseas. Some people can't afford it and I totally understand that because I'm one of those people right now!
I have a few packages coming and going that have been taking awhile, more than a month or two. I know it happens sometimes but I worry about my books, more the ones going than coming too. Has anyone else's been taking awhile to go or come?
I couldn't agree more- that's a huge part of what BM lacks where PBS doesn't. You get kicked off PBS if you do that sort of thing too many times and you don't get to keep points for supposedly "lost" books!
It would have but I didn't know about that then! And you can bet the postal worker didn't inform me. I found out about that a little after that episode.
I still think that's a bit much for one book though but I enjpy sending overseas so much. The extra points aren't bad either but right now I'm not mooching anywhere near what I was so that's not hurting me. I just like when someone wants a book and I have it to send to them. I'll have to start again soon.
That's what I should have been doing all along but I never thought about it. That one to Japan was a doozy though and I will from now on!
I've had mainly great situations personally. I recently stopped sending worldwide for awhile because of the cost but I will start again soon.
I've always mooched from wherever with no concern really- because I have so many books the time *usually* doesn't matter to much to me but when I want to mooch from someone in the Philippines who only sends there that kind of sucks. But some people can afford it and some can't. Most people I've sent to have been very appreciative, as I am when I mooch from them.
You do have to be a little careful though- I sent one book (ONE!) to Japan once for over $22.00! The book wasn't nearly worth that much but I had accepted and didn't want to go back on it.
But I have met a ton of great people mooching and sending outside the U.S. I was and still am and angel too and that also helps with meeting and helping people.
I would suggest pricing the packages before accepting- that's what I'll be doing next time around!
That's what I thought- it may seem like a lot of people are using them but that's not the case. It's actually usually the same people over and over. I can't use them myself along with lost of other people. It's my understanding that John is trying to fix it so everyone can use it but that's been being said for a long time now.
I'm not sure why those who can use it can and why we can't but you're not alone. There is a way you can get the posts though- if you go to the forums (which sometimes won't even load in less than an hour) and "subscribe" to the threads you want you'll get an email whenever someone posts. If you're an angel and want to get requests this is good or if you're friends with the people who do use it. As a subscriber I can tell you there isn't much point beyond those two things- it's just basically, right now, a group of friends. From what I can see and from what I've learned.
Hopefully it'll be back up and running soon so all of BM can use it.
A month with no communication is far too long IMO. Like someone said above or in another thread, it only takes a second to message someone- that's just flat out rude and ignorant. Why list the book then? I would cancel but that's just me!
Jon wrote: "Even though BookMooch has it's outages, I prefer to support a completely nonprofit outfit. I don't want or need to subscribe to another service or be bombarded with advertising. "
What advertising? I prefer to go wherever is best and as sad as it is to say, right now, PBS is FAR better than BM. In terms of everything, wishlisted books, getting books ordered, the people (for the most part), the forums, etc. Everything.
Crystal wrote: "As far as him not saying anything, it's possible that he doesn't have time at the moment to say much because he's too busy trying to fix it... So I'd say for now no news is good news. "
He did say something, just not where Jon looked. He said something about it on the BM forums and it's back up now. It's been back up for *at least* 11 minutes but maybe longer because I just woke up.
I don't think Mark actually does the fixing either. :)
Wendy wrote: "I have been a member of bookmooch now for a little over a month. Today I went to log on, and the site cannot be found! I can't decide if the website is down or if the error is on my end. Is anyo..."
No errors on your part Wendy! This seems to happen every once in awhile at BM so whenever it does happen I wouldn't worry too much. Whenever I check my feed and see it hasn't refreshed I know it's down. I'll post here when it goes back up if no one else gets to it first so you guys know.
