MMM... I think I will check this out thanks.
Another good book is "He Intends Victory". It's an excellent book on those who have HIV.
Also another great ministry is called "Exodus". They are awesome!
The thing is to remember that we are all in the same boat- SIN. When The Bible says homosexuals go to hell it also said that whoremongers, thiefs, liars, fornicators... in the same sentence.
Thank you Andrea. I must say that we ALL need to make sure that we have our faith in the bibical Jesus Christ. Not just someone that we have/someone else has made up. Because we can do the same thing as many many many people in history and today are doing. saying they believe in Jesus but, don't truly know Him. (I was guilty of this also).
Mormonism believes that Jesus is an exalted man that he was just like us who is also the brother of Satan. This no where in the Bible. Therefore it's someone's belief and idol.
Just because we believe something is true doesn't in no way make it true. The question I ask people is there absolute truth? Many people today that even call themselves Christians say 'abosultely no truth is absolute'. Then how can you say absolutely?
I can not judge another persons soul; only God can do that but, we can show them where their beliefs do not line up with the Bible, The unfalliable word of God.
Many people say what gives me the right to tell someone they are wrong? If you are a believer in the Bibical Christ there is your authority. Jesus told people where they were wrong. Paul and many other phophets, apostles, and disciples also did. We are to do it out of love. If you don't love the person you are talking to my advice is to keep your mouth shut. Harsh some may say but, think about what damamge people do when they say things out of hatered and ignorance. And you can love someone who never met. I believe that love comes from God not me, not of ourselves.
My question is to people no matter what they say their faith is; do you believe in the bibical Christ? If you say you believe does your life show you believe? We don't follow the Bible to earn heaven but, to show our love for the true living God that died on the cross for our sins. Many people say the believe but, the Bible also says, the devil and the demons believe. What is the difference between the demons and Satans belief and our belief? Someone that says they believe in God/Jesus can still go to hell. Because the demons cringe and bow to God. A believer's belief-faith in God is gratitude and respect and love and we follow Him because of our love. Our good deeds do not get us into heaven we do them to show love for what He has done for us not to earn brownie points or earn our way up the ladder.
(I would be more than happy to give your verses if you would like them.)
If anyone would like to learn more differences between Christianity and Mormonism I would be glad to give more examples. I do not hate Mormons. We are all the the same boat- In Need of a LORD and Savior.
Thank you Jennifer and Vanessa. I so appreciate your comments and questions. I feel more like Abraham. Can I do this? I am so excited on what God has done but I still get nervous for a moment or two...
I was raised Mormon; my dad was a bishop for over 3years and has been in the bishopbric for over 20 years. They are taught that we are the same and that they believe in the same Jesus as historical bibical Christianity does. I also feel I need to speak up and say that most people who call them selves Christians have no idea what they believe or why either.
The one thing I tell my Mormon family and friends, including others also that it isn't about a religion Christianity is about a relationship.
Though this might not be the answer you were looking for it was what I found. I have researched this for myself though their are some really good books out there for bible studies on certain areas and issues of our lives. I believe that if we don't be careful we get off on the wrong road; we look to other books and people to satisfy our answers on issues, relationships... instead of looking at what God's word says. We are looking for someone else to interpert what the Word is saying instead of reading and researching it for ourselves. I encourage all of us when we read anything that we open our Bible along with it. So many I have talked to get lost on this slippy slope. I know you were looking at certain books but, I felt that I should share this.

AWESOME!!! OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!!!
This week was a hard week. I got snowed out of my house and my family got into a fight over a big misunderstanding, so I just left. I am staying at my in-laws and was pretty down about my family's fight and my husband being all the way in WY for work. Then as I've spent a few days with my in-laws my husband grandmother who is 89 years old said the sweetest things to me. She said, "if my daughter dies I want you and Aaron to take care of me". I know that won't happen but, just her eyes telling me what was on her heart not just on her lips. I didn't even think she liked me. And I realized that I was exactly where the LORD wanted me to be. If my family didn't throw their tissy-fit then I wouldn't of spent the week with my in-laws and I wouldn't know that I have family over here too. God uses ALL things for our good and HIS glory. So that was my favorite memory this Christmas. Thank you LORD!!
Please share yours. You can share a previous Christmas memory but, try to think of something from this Christmas.
I am sorry for your loss of your brother. I will be praying for you and your family. I didn't talk about God, my faith, or my loss of my chidren... for many many years. Over 10 years. It's hard. Be patient with her and pray for her. How old was your brother? I do have a book I loved. Grieving Forward: Embracing Life Beyond Loss Even though my children weren't older as her son was; I still find that the her story help me understand mine a little more. I hope you and your mom like it as much as I did. God's Peace.
That sounded wrong. sorry. I don't know much about heaven. The Bible speaks about Hell more than Heaven. I think that is because God wants us to know what the alternative is like to be without Him. So if we don't choose Him then He fully warned us. Like a parent that teaches their children consequences over rewards. As a child I remember my parents trying to teach me right from wrong. I knew that I would get punished from my Dad for doing certain things but, sin is so glamerous and looks like fun. Thinking oh the spanking or the grounding would be worth it. So I jumped in and got bit so, to speak. I wish they would of told me more about consequences that come along with the sin. Sorry I just went off on a tangent, didn't I? All I do know is that HEAVEN is going to be wonderful because God is going to be there. And HELL is horrible because God isn't going to be there.
Barbara, Sounds very interesting. I am so sorry about the loss of your son. My heart goes out to you. I don't know much about heaven, all I know is that I can't wat to be there. We have 5 children with the Lord so, I see them playing tag with Jesus and sitting around him listening to Him tell Bible stories. They are happy and content and waiting till God calls me home. This sounds like an interesting book. I think I'll check it out.
Thanks Melissa and Brittany. It's nice to not be alone in your thinking. But I've learned it's better to be the alone with God standing one His word because I always have Him. I know that most people don't understand or believe in His word but, I have to remember I was once there too.
Jesse, Just because something is not something we believe in doesn't mean it isn't true? Because some people say that God doesn't exists does that mean He doesn't? No. God is always God. Just because someone says they don't believe in the devil does that mean He doesn't exist? No, but I think that's what He wants us to believe that he isn't real and there isn't evil. Just becaue something is make believe doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with it or that there isn't. It does have to be one way or the other. Everything is good or evil. No fence sitting. The question I ask my self what is the author pertraying... Are they calling something evil good or good evil? Is it glorifing the dark world? Making it evil look like it is glamerous, fun...? If so I don't read it. The Bible says that they the Enemy loves death. So when I read a book, watch a movie, listen to music... Those are some of the questions I ask my self. I love fantasy, make believe, sci-fi.... fairy tales... But I am very picky with what I put in my mind. I use to not be but, now that I relaize that I don't want those images in my mind. I haven't read the Twilight series so I can't say that the book says this or that. But I do have a conviction on that He is a vampire and of course Vampires love death and they drink the blood which the Bible speaks againist. Sin is always fun for the moment but, the fun always dies and you are left with nothing. I've been there.
Sorry I wrote that sentence wrong.
I don't take things like, "Oh it's just a book or We are good witches very lightly."
Brittany I agree. That was very good. The difference between Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings is you can tell there is a manger difference in Good and Evil. Harry Potter does the same things that the evil ones do in the books except not only does He get away with it but,He is praised for it. In the Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings there is always the defiant distinision of good and evil. So there is a defiant difference between the stories written by C.S. Lewis and Tolikien vs. the Harry Potter and other occult books. The Bible tells us clearly NOT to call good evil and evil good. It tells us to run from sin. I was talking to a friend of mine today about this very question on these books and books like this. Many people say oh, I just read them for entertainment. I have to ask my self whatever it may be, books, music, tv, movies, magazines, clothing.... Does it bring me CLOSER to GOD? If no, then it brings me AWAY from GOD and there fore I can not bring them into my mind and my life. There is no such thing as "just for entertainment". I have friends that were apart of the occult before coming to Christ and they have told me things and I have seen things that tell me the exact opposite of the world is telling us today. I really encourage you to research the occult and their practices along with the Bible. If the Bible says something is wrong, we need to call it that. Wrong. I do have a DVD that talks about the occult. I would love to share the name of it if anyone is interested in checking it out.
E- Oh hon. I am so sorry. I am glad you are doing better. Please know that if you have asked God into your life, you are His and He has given you the power of the spirit to battle the demons, and even our own fears. Pray in Jesus name and they must leave. I will be praying for you.
Melissa I so agree with you also. Having friends that were in the witch life style and the things I have seen and heard from them. I don't take things like oh it's just a book. We are good witches very lightly.
Oh yeah Twlight. I totally didn't know that.
I would encourage you to read books before you let your kids read them. I had kids bring books to school saying there aunts or grandparents gave them. They were told they were good books written for children. That doesn't mean that their any good. I haven't read the Twilight books so I can't comment on them. I just encourage parents to read or atleast read up on what your kids are reading.
