I have this on my shelf and think I'm going to tackle it in the new year. This is definitely one of those books that I feel I should have read by now.
I hope to get this book soon... it's pretty much number 1 on my to-buy list, but none of the bookstores here seem to sell it, so I'm probably going to order it online after Christmas... I can't wait to read it!
I've only just signed up for Twitter... my user is kirstylou85. Gonna follow you all - will be nice to follow real people instead of just celebs!
I've only just seen the first post about this, so am too late to offer my help, but I have to say this is a fab idea! I have been trying to keep track of the books I want to read from the podcasts, but I'm sure I've missed some. The spreadsheet will be a huge help!
I like David Baldacci - I've read two of his books and thoroughly enjoyed them both. Will be reading more at some point. Fast paced and definitely page-turners.
I read Dracula last year and really enjoyed it. I loved how atmospheric the novel was. I think it probably helped that I haven't seen any of the Dracula movies so I didn't really have anything to compare it to. The only thing I didn't like about the novel was how Harker and co's musings tended to come right in the middle of the scenes of action. I felt they dragged the pace down a little. I gave it 4* though because overall it was a great read.
I have The Grapes of Wrath on my shelf so I'm going to try to fit that in in the next couple of months I think.
I'm re-reading Of Mice and Men and am loving it just as much as the first time around (I read it at school when I was 16). I love his description, it's so vivid... I wish there were more than 106 pages! I really need to read more Steinbeck.
I have Gaiman's Neverwhere on my TBR shelf, I really should bump it up my list as a number of people have raved about his books.
I'm reading The Shadow of the Wind at the moment. This is my second attempt - I put the book aside the first time I tried to read it because I just couldn't get into it. I don't like to give up on books unless I really hate them though so I'm giving it another go. I'm enjoying it much more this time, but I'm finding it's one of those books that you have to devote time to (rather than just reading a little here and there) and so it's taking me a while to read. I'm around half way through and hope to finish it in the next couple of days.
Ann, I'm going on vacation next Sunday and I bought The Ruins to read on the plane based on what you said on the podcast!

Ok that settles it - definitely going to re-read Wicked at some point soon!

I found that Beloved wasn't an easy read, at all. I can't even say I particularly enjoyed the book because even though I gave it 4 stars it was a painful, heart-wrenching read. I was, however, moved by the writing and it certainly made me think. When I look back I am glad I read it. I couldn't put it down once I started because I was transfixed by the story.
I would class it as horror, but not in the usual sense of the word. More 'horrific' I guess.

It's good to know you liked this Dottie, I have it on my shelf to read. A friend also read it and raved about it so I'm thinking of taking it on vacation with me at the end of the month.
LMJ, I read Wicked a couple of years ago and thought it was ok but I wasn't over-enamoured with it. I think it may have been the keeping track of names/places that ruined it for me too. I'm thinking I should read it again though as I have the second book on my TBR shelf. Hopefully my experience of re-reading will be as good as yours!
