Thanks for the group recommendations Stephanie. There are so many out there it is hard to know which ones are worth joining. I'm going to check a few of these out.

Ooooh, I love books that make me cry and have been wanting to read 84 Charing Cross Road for the longest time. Maybe now's the time. I thought Guernsey Potato was very charming too.
There is actually a group dedicated to Plague books here on Goodreads. You could check their bookshelf for ideas.
Two of my childhood favourites were A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter and Mandy by Julie Andrews Edwards. I didn't realize until I joined Goodreads that the author of Mandy was Julie Andrews the actor.
Hi Michael, I read two of the Persopolis books last year and really loved them. I would like to try some more so I will check out your group.
How about world literature? I know that's kind of a large topic but maybe you could do some of your favourites. I'm sure there are tons of authors that are little known in North America but well respected and read in other countries. One of my favourite books last year was by a French author named Anna Gavaldon. I never would have come across her on my own.
Thanks Ann,
Merry Christmas to you too. My new books are already fighting with the MP3 player for time. I have a feeling that the books will win out despite the fascination with a new toy!
Hello Everyone,
I recently joined the group in anticipation of receiving an mp3 player for Christmas and thankfully I did receive one. The first thing I did was subscribe to this podcast and listen to it. I love science fiction among other things so enjoyed listening to your comments about The Sparrow and Stranger in a Strange Land. I actually read the sequel to the Sparrow first (Children of God) and loved it. Ann, Life Class by Pat Barker sounds like it would be right up my alley. I look forward to hearing about and discussing more great books here!
