The series you mention sounds good, I'll have to check it out. I also find that how much I like a poem is often related to how it resonates with my life at time. Sometimes I will read a poem I loved in the past, but find I don't like it all that much anymore, because my circumstances/issues/emotions about the topic has changed.

4862 I just finished The Kite Runnerand felt it definitely lived up to everything people said about it - I loved it. I'm now reading Boundary Waterswhich is not of the caliber of KR, but fun because I've spent some time in that part of the country.

4862 I love poetry, but would rather hear it read aloud than read it myself. Poetry seems to come alive when read aloud, in a way it does not on the printed page. Like Woolly1 I'm a fan of Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac.

4862 I'm currently reading the Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini. I feel like I'm the last person in the world to read it! So far I'm finding it very absorbing. I also started to read Dr. Olaf van Schuler's Brain but Kirsten Menger-Anderson (as recommended on BOTN podcast a few months ago. I liked it but decided, given the short story format, it was a better read for when I'm back to work and have less time for reading. I'm on spring break now :-)

4862 I just realized I've been posting and haven't introduced myself- how rude! I found BOTN when I followed Ann on Twitter after seeing her posts in a Ravelry group about twitter. How's that for a round-about social media path. Anyway, I hope you don't feel like I'm stalking you, Ann, but I am enjoying the podcasts!

4862 I think the A&E movie version is the best one I've seen. i didn't like the recent movie with Keira Knightly - I thought the actor playing Darcy was weak. Of course, you have to take my opinions with a grain of salt, as I've admitted to not having read the book! I am resolved to do so, and will not give up in the 1st 50 pages!

4862 I already follow Ann on Twitter (and you follow me), and will add Michael as well. I've just started listening to your podcasts and following this group on GoodReads, and enjoy them a lot. My twitter name is K_BasenEngquist.

4862 Pride and Prejudice is my guilt read - I have seen many screen adaptions, but have never read it!
4862 Let us know what you think! Our book club (moms and 11-12 year old girls) loved it.
4862 I still love A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle - I think the fantasy aspects of it are terrific. A newer book that we read in our mother-daughter bookclub is Heartbeat by Sharon Creech - a beautiful book about life's changes told from the perspective of a 12 year old girl.
