I really enjoyed this book but I am a huge Nancy Mitford fan. The book was pretty interesting because between them they knew so many famous people eg. JFK was referred to as Fat Friend (FF) in the family

Your signature is fine, the second picture is a question mark, the book cover of The girl with the dragon tattoo is fine, then the last picture is another question mark.

For Beowulf on the beach and BOTNS 38 everything is a question mark. For podcast 37 I can see all the pictures. So maybe it's the size of them. Hope that helps you figure it out.

4862 I tried the link on my Iphone (it's the latest version) and the pictures are coming up as question marks, not sure why. I usually read your blog in NewsGator on the Iphone which makes it the perfect size but you have to click through to the web site to comment.

The podcast link worked fine. I didn't try the voice mail link.

I love that expression "literary afterglow" and I love the feeling it describes.

Thanks Katherine. I love Buffy so that sounds exactly my kind of thing!

Thanks for the info on Rampant, despite my love of YA I'm well over the age it's intended for, so the content should be fine :)

oh good. I love YA books and would love some new recommendations. I'm currently waiting for Rampant by Diana Peterfreund to come out, have either of your come across it yet?

And of course I can't wait for Catching Fire.

Interesting that you wouldn't recommend A Tale of Two Cities. I have to say I only picked it because everyone knows the beginning, so it seemed a good place to start.

Having just read a review of it I'm thinking maybe Treasure Island now.

4862 I think A tale of two cities or Washington Square.

4862 Thank you! I just got the 19th Wife in the mail I'll be starting it as soon as I finish The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which I am loving, so thanks for the recommendation.

4862 I just finished The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It is excellent and such a page turner, I couldn't put it down. Definitely one of the best books I've read this year.
4862 I love children and YA books. My favourites being

His Dark Materials - Phillip Pullman
Looking for Alaska - John Green
The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen
The Twilight Saga - Stephanie Meyer

I've put the Chocolate Wars and City of Ember on my TBR list, thanks for the recommendations.

4862 I mainly read fiction. Although I do plan to read Traffic as soon as my husband's finished with it. Although he keeps telling me things he's learnt when we're on the way to work so maybe I won't need to!

The only other non-fiction books I've read this year are
The Glass Castle - Jeanette Wells
The Killer Angels - Michael Shaara

Both of which were excellent so I don't know why I don't read more!

4862 I voted for you and found some new book blogs too :)

Well done and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

4862 It sounds good. I love it when you find a book you really connect with and you want everyone you know to read it so you can talk about it.
4862 I am always recommending Nancy Mitford's The Pursuit of Love to people because it's excellent, funny and witty and painful and no one seems to have heard of it.

4862 I'd love to know more about your jobs too. A podcast explaining them would be great!

I've just finished Breaking Dawn (oh dear!) and am about to start Austenland.

4862 I like nightrary and I so need one, my TBR pile is growing and growing.

Anyway best reads this year so far:

The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox - Maggie O'Farrel
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks - E.Lockhart
Looking for Alaska - John Green
Mister Pip - Lloyd Jones

I seem to be reading loads of YA fiction at the moment. My husband keeps telling me to read Chabon and I've been resisting for some reason.

4862 I think The Famous Five will slways hold a place in my heart, we still reference them whenever we eat outside "food tastes better in the fresh air" I swear she wrote that is every book! I also loved Rusty from Back Home when I was young.

I love Will from His Dark Materials Trilogy - if I have a son I want him to be like Will.

Having just finished The Book Thief I think Rudy will remain in my heart forever more too.

Gosh I think I could go on and on :)
