I too have a plethora of unread books. I have books on my bookshelf, books piled on the floor, books piled in my bedroom and on my night stand. I only keep those that I truly absolutely fall in love with. I donate the others or list them on paperbackswap.comOne book I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't read yet is The Great Gatsby. I own it but have yet to read it.
And Ann, give The Poisonwood Bible more than 50 pages. It took me a bit to get into it, but once I did, I couldn't put it down.
I'm picking this up from the library tomorrow. I had to return it before I was finished with it. I will be able to finish it this time.
You have a great job and I'm so thankful that you share it with the rest of us amateur bibliophiles.
Ann, I have/had the same response to the Zombie genre that you spoke of on the podcast. However, hearing you describe this book makes me (once again) rethink that. This book sounds interesting and sounds as if something that would interest me.As usually happens, I have this preconceived notion in my mind about what I like and don't like and then I hear you or Michael speak about something I think I don't like and your vivid and enthusiastic descriptions make me immediately want to go out and read whatever it is you are speaking about.
Michael wrote: "Wasn't The Botany of Desire on PBS fantastic? I really loved it. I hope it brings more people to the book!"I have it on DVR and plan to watch it this weekend.

Carol, I'm in South Florida as well. Where will he be appearing??
I'm enjoying the book so far.
oops, I lied. The Book Thief isn't dystopic. So, I'm reading Uglies by Scott Westerfeld as my third installment for the DystopYA Challenge
I just finished Catching Fire and now I'm reading The Book Thief as my third installment of the DystopYA challenge.
I was so taken by The Hunger Games that I had to immediately skip over other books on my TBR list to read Catching Fire.

this wouldn't happen to be a book that's already released elsewhere but just not on this continent?
Now I have to add these to my list as well since I so loved Guernsey. I read it in a couple of days and found myself sobbing during certain parts. The authors did an excellent job of making you feel like you weren't just reading a narrative but rather eavesdropping in on real people and their lives. A truly amazing book.

And another thing I do is put misfiled books back on t..."ooh, I do that too. I'm constantly putting library books in their proper place while my daughter picks books out. It irks me.
I'm a polygamous reader as well. I toy with going back to reading one book at a time, but then something will happen and I'll find myself reading more than one at a time. I usually have two or three going at once. A fiction, a classic, a non-fiction that is usually historical or political in nature and then a non-fiction book that is related to health and/or fitness. My problem is I have a stack of library books and they always get precedence over the books I own. I'm hoping to get back to just reading one book at a time. I usually carry one with me, so it shouldn't be too hard to do.
well, I now own The Ruins because of all of you. it was for sale at our library for 50 cents and I couldn't resist.
