4862 I just finished "The Story of a Marriage" WoW what a book! It kept surprising me, and I loved the ending. It was everything I love in a slim volume.

I started Six Geese A-Slaying by Donna Andrews, it is from the Meg Laslow, series, she's a blacksmith craftsperson who has a wacky family, she solves crimes but doesn't consider herself a detective. The titles all have a bird. Happy reading, Karen

4862 Just started a discussion group on Goodreads to talk about the Barnes & Noble Nook and find people to trade e-book titles with the "share with a friend feature". Happy reading, Karen

4862 AJ Jacobs is great to listen to on audio because his nerdy voice is just what you would expect from someone who would set out to read the entire encyclopedia.

4862 The good reviews are nice but not reliable. The worst book ever written will have good reviews. If I am looking at reviews I pay more attention to the negative reviews. I have not enjoyed Hoffman's last two books. I think she has gotten too famous for editors to contain. Karen

I agree, I don't understand why everyone loved this so much.

4862 Sometimes I just close my eyes and reach for something on one of my bookshelves and read that. I want to read all of the books I have, (if I should live long enough). Generally I read the newer hardcovers first, becasue they will still be sought after by others, I trade books online on several sites, and demand falls off after a while.

4862 I'm really excited about the Kindle app for the Iphone and Ipod Touch
I know there have been reading apps before but I could never justify paying the same amount for an e-book as a hardcover. I also love the generous samples we can read with the Kindle app one was
7 chapters! I think the Kindle is too pricey and my Ipod fits in my pocket. E-books might finally start taking off now.

4862 It's important for the baby to see you reading then he/she will be interested in reading. Parents need time for themselves even if it's only sitting somewhere away with a book and coffee. When my kids were little I used to get an hour or two away once a week. Congratulations. Karen

4862 I think December calls for light reading! I'm reading some cozy mysteries by Elaine Viets, "Murder Between the Covers" a Dead-end Job Mystery. It's set in Florida, and is a fun quick read.

I think Edgar Sawtelle is too sad for the holiday season. After I finished it, I read online reviews and saw that it was a take on Hamlet. If I had read that first, I would have put it off for another time.

I must be the odd one, because I didn't think it was that wonderful.

4862 People always wonder how I have time to read......I don't watch much TV. I read with my morning cup of coffee, when I'm waking up. I read at night for a couple hours, before I go to bed, instead of watching TV. I take a book with me wherever I go, so if I'm waiting in line somewhere, I am reading. Before you know it, you've read 50 books!
Happy reading,
Karen

4862 Hello all, I've been listening to the podcasts for a while. I've been a bookworm all my life. Like Nancy Pearl says, books are a good escape from stresses.

I read 50-80 books a year, and more I start and don't finish. I like Nancy Pearl's 50 page rule.

I just graduated from college! I home schooled my girls for 12 years. My youngest is graduating high school this year. She has been in a program called running start where she does college classes instead of the high school classes for some of it.

I taught her how to read, and encouraged her love of reading. We used to go to the Northwest Bookfest together, till sadly it folded.

I completed 2, two year degrees in the last two years and still read lots of books.

I'm searching for a job in hospital administration. I also do quilting and machine embroidery. For a few years I had a website where I sold machine embroidery designs that I digitized.

My latest passion is working on recording photo slide shows of children's books primarily for my granddaughter. I have some posted on Youtube.

I just started, "I am the Messenger" and I'm reading Miss Julia Meets her Match. I quit a book group I was going to when I picked the first book and everyone else hated it. They acted like I was a cretin for liking it. I still enjoy them after X number of sequels.

A year ago last May, I discovered swapping books online. My collection has grown from about 200 to almost 800 and that doesn't include the books I've collected for my Aunt, daughters, sisters, and granddaughter. I find books all over the place. It seems like someone wants just about every book.

My favorite site is Bookmooch.com, and second favorite is www.paperbackbookswap.com.

Nice to meet you all, happy reading, Karen AKA fairy grandmother, because Sarina lives in Denver, and I fly in bearing gifts. Karen
